The bass is almost painful for my ears, I'm listening to it on headphones, so it might be better on a stereo system, but even then it is beyond good and evil :/

Could be that the start caught you unaware, causing you to crank it up... Theres a fair diffierence in dynamics... but maybe you're right... Sounds thick on my monitors, but nicely so.

very interesting music! Sounds like Chuck Schuldiner's guitar a little bit! I would recommend to put a D82 Sonic Maximizer and cut resonances in 4000-5500 diapazone! But this is only my, may be, bad ideas)
