John's always seemed like one of the nicest, most humble frontman's out there, I don't get why anyone would hate the guy, no matter how you feel about the music.

I don't think anyone really hates John (i don't hate him). I think It's that Joey era fans are tired of hearing the Bush fans bitching about what's currently going on with Anthrax. This in turn causes the Joey fans to fire back just to piss the Bush fans off. I'm not saying that is the full reason, just partly.

Actually most of us Bush era fans, are Joey fans too. We just feel the need to strike back when morons make stupid statements like calling that lineup, grunge, and other constant assaults on that lineup. (see any post by IMF09)
