I don't have a link, so I'm going to just write a review here.
I'm not sure if you're supposed to to that(I'm new to these forums.)

Anyway, let's get to the review.

Cryptic Writings is one of the strangest albums I've ever heard.
It is a great and overlooked album, though.

It starts out somewhat soft, and slightly thrashy with Trust.
Trust is a great song, but it is an attempt at a radio hit,
Then, things get heavier with Almost Honest, which has a very cool riff and chorus.
Use the Man is another attempt at an alternative rock radio song. I like it better than Trust.
The ending is thrashy.
Mastermind is a standout track with its funky groove riff.
Then, The Disintegrators comes on, and it gives the album some thrash.
It is very fast!
I'll Get Even just passes by, leaving no other thought in your head other than "how does that song go."
It is not bad, but it just fills a gap between to major parts of the album.
Sin stands out, and is similar to Mastermind.
The album goes back to a softer sound with A Secret Place.
Have Cool, Will Travel is one of my favorite songs on Cryptic Writings.
It is also the strangest. It begins slightly comically with Dave Mustaine singing The Wheels on the Bus over a harmonica intro. The song kicks in, and closes in the same way that it opens.

Have Cool, Will Travel marks the end of the alternative metal part of the metal.
The album suddenly turns into a thrash metal with the galloping She Wolf.
Vortex is the same way, only not as good.
FFF is a political version of Motorbreath by Metallica.
It is also a thrash metal track.
On the itunes version, there are some bonus tracks, which are all just alternate recordings
of some of the tracks on the album.
I will not get into all of them on here, but there is one notable one called Bullprick.
The song is a little bit funny. It is a heavier version of FFF, with the lyrics about a jackhammer instead of politics.

This album is a great one.
It is very different from the rest of Megadeth's catalogue.
It seems to be confused, jumping from alternative metal to heavy metal to thrash metal, with some blues thrown in here and there. I would not recommend buying it without hearing Youthanasia first. It is much more diverse than Youthanasia, and not as good.
It is still one of my favorite albums of all time. It is what I would consider to be an aquired taste.
