It's been released for a few days now.. im ready to purchase, but im wondering how people who have it like it!

Let's hear it.. how do you all like the new features? what are the major improvements? the new plugins any good?

Hmmm.. there is mention of some bugs on the cubase 5 forum, but nothing too major really.. i'll check for more bugs right now... that's pretty bad news since it should be better then cubase 4, not worse lol.

Have learnt my lesson re: early-adopting with Steinberg.

4 didn't quite work right until 4.5 so I'm not going anywhere near 5 in the forseeable future (if at all). None of the new features appeal to me and there's always a bloody good chance they won't work anyway.

Sorry, but when I see the thread title, even though it's proper grammar, all I can think of is "I can has Cubase 5?"

Sorry, I'll leave now :D

I'm also looking to finally get Cubase 5 and yeh i have read a few scary things.....i heard Reverence is a cpu killer but it should get fixed......but the way i look at it is...There's 1000's of happy steinberg users and maybe a couple hundread ppl that hate it or ain't happy with it. and you gotta think that some out of those couple hundred ppl that hate it, don't have a stable system or it's themselves at fault(not pointed at anyone here). Now i don't know exact numbers and i might be eating my words when i finally get it.........But i don't understand you buy the sofware, you see what it takes to run it.update and it should run..

just my thoughts

Lol Marcus!

Yeah Zombietakeover.. i would just go for cubase 4 if that was THAT much cheaper.. but it ain't, it's the exact same price as cubum 5 is right now, and THEN you would have to upgrade from 4 to 5, (chryst krispies->) which would cost you 200 euro or so, so i would be more expensive to buy 4 and upgrade.

However, it is true that people with problems will whine about it, and where the happy user will just be fiddling with it and not post about how well all works.

I don't know, all i know is that i need a upgrade and 5 seems really cool.. bugs are there but i will not tolerate bugs like unneccesary crashes and not being able to export mixes while using certain plugins, stuff like that kills it for me and that means sending it back.

Damn.. this is a tough one!

This isn't a jab at Steinberg specifically, but I really don't understand how a manufacturer can relaese a product, then instantly have problems with it???
I currently work for a very large manufacturer who's name I will not mention in these forums (non audio product), and the amount of times this happens is fucking retarded! With all the money spent on R&D, testing, prototyping, production, etc..you think they would get it right in that amount of time before it's released to the public.

I'm planning to upgrade soon, as in the next 6 months or so. Very happy with Cubase 4, it does everything I need. The new features in Cubase 5 look great, but there's no reason to early-adopt with Steinberg, I've learned vicariously through my Cubase friends not to do this.

This is the exact reason why im holding back at the moment.. i want to upgrade, but really can't be bothered beta testing for them for that price.
