cubase sx3 vista prob

i already checked the cubase.net forums and noone really responds much there to problems. everything is crackling. its not in the recordings and it only does it if the signal is loud. and my cpu usage is always at like 20% even when im not doing anything. im assuming its just windows vista being a little bitch as usual. am i right? or is there anything i could do?

oh i forgot to say im using the asio drivers from my firepod.
