Well with half the year passed what's your fave ten albums so far?
I like way way more than this but let me try for a top 10 cause no one gives a shit about a big list.
10. Seven - 7 - A brilliant AOR comeback from these 90s unknowns. Some glorious tunes and amazing production will please any AOR junkie.
09. Iron Savior - Rise Of The Hero - Piet and co in top notch form. Some awesome tunes and as usual the sharp production skills of Piet.
08. Within Temptation - Hydra - I have heard a lot of people hating on this but apart from the rap tune which is ok apart from the rap bit, I find this to be a brilliant release with some of their best songs in terms of catchiness.
07. Night Mistress - Into The Madness - Unknown Polish band deliver a superb melodic heavy metal album with top notch vocals. A big surprise entry indeed.
06. Primal Fear - Delivering the Black - Power metal stalwarts with another great effort. Got bashed by the usual crowd who say they are repeating themselves. Whatever.
05. Sabaton - Heroes - A default entry by the Sabawarmachine. It's probably even more melodic than the last release.
04. Crosswind - Vicious Dominion - Wow a big surprise entry by unheralded Greeks. I can't really find any fault with this album and still it comes in only 4th. Maybe just a couple of more big songs needed.
03. Kobra And The Lotus - High Priestess - Another huge surprise for me. Her vocals are superb, absolutely superb and faultless IMO. The band is faultless and the melodies are fantastic. At least 3 or 4 of the tunes rival anything I've heard this year.
02. Dynazty - Renatus - Jesus they put some steel in this band. Glam is gone and blisteringly powerful melodic heavy metal is in. The songs are super gloriously memorable too and blessed with super clear vocals. I hope they don't go back to glam again after this!
01. Stormwarrior - Thunder & Steele - And finally and probably surprisingly the latest Stormwarrior is my fave album of the year so far. The reason it sneaks the number one slot is because EVERY single song is amazing. There is no hint of a filler not even close. Other albums had amazing songs but not every single one, unlike the new Stormwarrior which I find to be awesome from the first note till the last. I can't see how it will get beat but you never know if something amazing will come along...is Lost Horizon coming back before the year is out??? (yeah right!)
