Current top 10 for 2014

I know it's just me, but I don;t get all this love for Voyager...

ProgPower USA trivia:

Q: Who had the longest signing session line in ProgPower USA history?
A: Voyager.

Q: Who sold the most cds after their set at the main merch table in ProgPower USA history?
A: Voyager.

Yea, while I liked their albums, seeing them live (much like Sabaton) just took it to a new level. When I saw them open for Rhapsody of Fire, almost nobody knew who they were. By the end of their set they had the audience eating out of their hand. Regardless, I think V is an amazing record.

Within Temptaion - Hydra (I love everything this band does)

I like all your picks edgeofthorns barring the Anette Olzon. That was sleep inducing for me! As for Darkest Era when I saw them live their best moments were when they went full on Celtic folk dark metal. This song is way too doomy for me. I'll be asleep before the end!

In no particular order..

Skyliner - Outsiders (prog/power from Florida)
Edguy - Space Police
Sabaton - Heroes
Disforia - The Age of Ether (prog from Salt Lake City)
Overkill - White Devil Armory
Steamforged - (Prog from Kentucky - very space opera)
Unisonic - Light Of Dawn
Gamma Ray - Empire of the Undead
Primal Fear - Delivering The Black
Persuader - The Fiction Maze

Honorable mention to Timo Tolkki's Avalon as an excellent emetic.

One of my favorite albums of this year is "Pink Lemonade" by Closure In Moscow. I know it has nothing to do with metal or the majority of the music discussed here, but it's definitely prog and absolutely amazing. Has anyone checked?

It might be my album of the year!
Took a few spins but I love it now.
Church of the Technochrist is defiantly my "song of the year".

Yeah, I know Anette's solo disc won't be popular here in these parts. For whatever reason, it's just struck a chord with me. I think she went into a very logical direction with her type of music.

Judging from this song, it's not bad, but it's not catching my attention either. Is the rest of the album sound similar to this as well?
Yes. If you don't like this song, you likely won't like the album. That said, it's definitely a grower and one I think is worth the investment. That said, I know it's not for everyone. Thanks for giving it a spin.
