Cut my head off. Pics.

So how does this sound, compared to the "real" head?

Ive owned a 5150 Block EVH head before as well.....and sold it like a tard. And i bought this thing recently. In the room, to me it sounds the same....huge and massive! But recording it sounds very different then the head and a 4x12 cab IMO. Cause of the smaller enclosure, you dont get that huge sound.....atleast i couldnt get it on my recordings. So this is why i did it. I bought a cab and its on the way. I will be sure to post clips ASAP.

damn, i just made a thread about finding a 5150 combo on the cheap...this might be something to consider in place of putting V30's in it

either that, or disconnect the speakers from the amp, and add a 2nd speaker output

It already has 2 speaker outs. The one the combo speakers hook into via a 1/4 (internal) and an external jack. 1/4 also.

So really its kinda pointless to cut it and make it a head. Cause you can just dissconnect the speakers and plug a cab in. But i wanted to cut it up.

ahh gotcha...i just sort of assumed that the speakers would be wired directly to the amp - i never realized there was already a jack to the internal speakers

Well the internal speakers are directly wired, the only way to disconnect 'em is to open up the cab and disconnect the leads (then tape 'em off), and that way the external speaker jack on the outside of the amp become 8 ohms (it's 16 ohms with the internals connected).

Mine has a 1/4 connection that the speakers connect to on the underside of the amp.

Mine was not direct wired.

You can see the 1/4 jack for the internal speakers....right on the under side of the amp next to the external jack on the back side.......in this pic.
