meh....my amp has finally failed me after years of use...the 1st Fender Cyber-Twin...

at first i thought the battery in my C-7 was fuckin up so i got a new battery...wasn't it.

checked my cables....were fine.

played with other guitars and used different cables, still sounded like shit.

the sound i am getting...makes you want to put down the guitar...there is No sustaine, barley any distortion, its getting weak and dying.

i tried and replaced everything and i found out it was my amp...i tried 5 different guitars and tons of different cables, plugged through my POD and also tried just straight to the amp on all of them.

Well i need to get a new amp and its about time cause i am not getting the sound i want through the Cyber-Twin.

Need that good crunch, what do you prefer?

i should look at a few marshall pr Pevey amps or somethin.

im sure you guys are wondering how much i am able to afford for a new amp. i make about a grand every 2 weeks. - Slot Techintian at a Casino.

any inputs would be great.

in the mean time...im gonna continue to learn No Boundries by Michael Angelo Batio...and work on a few solo's for some demo's without an amp :(

If you are talking home use or bedroom jamming....I'd recommend a Line 6, or a Marshall MG combo (this is what I use for jamming at home in my apt, MG15DFX).

If you need to get something you can play live....I'd look for a used 5150 or XXX on ebay (combo most likely in your price range)

5150, even at home it sounds pretty good with some tweaking at low volume according to the people at metallica's message board musicians forum. many of them have it, and they like it for both gigging and practicing with a band or in the bedroom

There's been a lot of raving about the Peavey JSX lately. You might want to check it out. Those who own it say it's a hit in between the XXX and 5150, yet better than both.

With what I've dealt with in terms of recording, I can say with certainty that it's better than a XXX.

ill check them all out, thx for the tips keep em commin!

Steve whats your input?
I would say check out ther Line 6 option, as you would have Di record option as well as something to jam on. first thought anyway.
Not really sure, as I haven't checked out much in recent times.

Dude ... plain and simple ....

You want low cost great tone 5150 and an Ibanez tube screamer! its the best combination out there. Mesas are over done and pricey. For about $700 you can get a 5150 with a cab and a Tube Screamer.....

5150 combo.
I've got one it works fine for home practice or gigging.
I actually run mine thru a hotplate into a Marshall top with greenbacks because post gain = 5 is it's sweet spot
but that is freaking loud as hell.
Why would anyone need to use a tube screamer in front of a 5150?
I never even turn the gain past 12:00 o clock on mine?????????
these things have tons of gain.

The tube screamer is used as a clean boost in front of the amp.

What it does is it focuses the low end tightens it up and gives a push in the mids.

The tube screamer "trick" has been used on almost every metal / thrash album in the past 20 years.

Its part of the classic "metal" sound.

thx guru, i will look into that as well.

i was also lookin into a half stack marshall for $600 on musisians friend but im gonna check out the 5150 right now

i find the combo at around $1,300 but ill look harder...not much luck though. I can find the Peavy 5150 head for $800.

if anyone can find the combo for cheaper let me know
