Ok, the album is great, but what I don't like is the transition between track 4 and 5. Track 4 just "stops". Maybe it's just my CD, feedback please.

Yupp.. I know. I remember I had the rip of Damnation before it was out, and I noticed the same thing.
So when I bought the album I was like "Yeay... now I'll hear the complete ending of Closure..".

I was fucking dissapointed when I found out that Closure ended the way it did on the rip.

You can do endings without cutting or fading. I would have preferred a real ending. Opeth has done some amazing ones, like on Leper Affinity with the piano. Holy crap is that awesome. I understand what they were trying to do by not giving the song any closure. Get it? I do, but I think it kind of takes away from the song.

I like the way it ends. If the CD player changes fluidly, there is less than a second before the next song starts, and it works perfectly IMO.

I think that is an awesome ending. If you close your eyes, and concentrate, the music becomes quite hypnotic. Just as you feel yourself becoming "lost" in the music, it suddenly ends. That is one of my favourite endings in any song.

Exactly Lethe78!

The track is called CLOSURE . Imagine yourself in a room there's music playing outside. What do you hear when you suddenly close the door? There's harmonious music outside, but in the race of the sun, you're longing for the darkness.

I swear to god, it's like I'm back in 1999 and everyone just heard Serenity Painted Death for the first time :Smug:

On an off topic note, Disengager CKY, did you used to post at the Heavy Music Community?

Yep, that was indeed me. I had some problems with my account here... its damn hard to sign up here when you dont have an email account that isn't aol/yahoo/etc... but yeah, I posted at HMC, I still do, but its dead basically.

Mere studio trickery or an artistic statement. Well the fact that its called Closure as a perceptive previous post stated says it all. It does jolt and jar the senses...that is the point.

At first I didn't like it but now I love it. Such a great song. But the ending to Serenity Painted Death still annoys me because it seems like more of an error then anything.

I had the same experience...
