Darkestrah - Epos

Luckily, I can wear headphones on days in the office. Most of my communication with co-workers is done on conference calls, e-mail or IM. Luckily, the headphones I use are sound-isolating ear buds. No external noise.

Yeah, I've switched back to my earbuds, there are some assholes here who yell and holler the whole time. :( But yeah, when I was wearing the sennheisers, I got complaints from my colleagues that they could here my music. :p

Whoa, is there an echo in here? Other people have their radios on all day long, but it's "elevator friendly" type music, so no complaints are ever made.

It's a no win situation for me, but I can hear a whisper of it, so that's at least something.

Spun this quite a few times the past few days, but I fail to see how it's better than the new Drudkh.

I think the new Drudkh is repetitive and overly long. Where Blood in our Wells was a great culmination of everything they'd previously done, Estrangement is too similar to Forgotten Legends. Now many an oompa will tell you that FL is the best Drudkh, simply because they're trying to make out that they found the band early on, or just because it's 'tr00' and trendy to prefer the debut -- if not the demo -- of any pagan BM band, but the reality is, Blood in our Wells is the greatest thing Drudkh have ever done. I'll even go one further and speculate that Blood in our Wells is the greatest thing Drudkh will ever do. The band has peaked already.

As for Epos, it shits shits shits all over Estrangement. The former is possibly the album of the year, the latter was removed from my iPUD as of last night. :loco:

i didnt like epos too much.

forgotten legends gets boring. aa and biow are best drudkh.

sorry for weird typing lately. the baby prefers to sleep whilst im holding her, so ive only got one hand to type

Overly long? It's 36 and a half minutes. While I agree Blood in Our Wells is a fantastic album, I'd still say their best is Forgotten Legends. Not for the reasons you stated, because I didn't find the band early on, I was actually quite late to the party, nor is is cool to think the first album/demo is a bands best. The reason why it's usually their best is because it usually has ideas that have cumulated over the a few years, and they have had time to work them out. I think the reason why the new one is great is it has the same great use of melodies which hypnotic repetitive riffing that helps the atmosphere. Also, the solos in the album have a completely different approach than before; moreover, I find the songs to be about solitude in nature or being alone in a vast landscapse, where as on their early stuff like FL or AA, I find they just describe the beauty of nature in an unusual way.

Epos is a very solid album, and actually has some great progress to the song, and I just prefer Drudkh style, but saying it shits all over Drudkh? That's just absurd.

I'm going to listen to Drudkh right now. Fuck you Ali :loco:

This album is fucking cool. Right now I like the part with the former Soviet Republic fump + HEY! sounds the best, around the 18 minute mark.

Had no idea the vocalist was a chick until I searched for this here thread.
