DAW controllers and surfaces

Cheers for the feedback, looks like I'm gonna give one a go.

On the subject, during my research I stumbled on this posted by unsound1 on gs:

I could see myself doing the same...

I can't understand why THE FUCK not a single controller except D-command serie and above can implement the brilliant EQ and Dynamic section which the d-comannd serie has, where you can adjust eq's and dynamics with your hands. If a controller would implement that function and not cost 20k o would sooo buy it.

I second that so much.

I'm pretty sure the alphatrack does this

+1
Even the £5K C24 doesn't have it! Really, really annoying.

Anybody ever manage to put a BCR200 above a BCF2000 and get them to work like 8 channel strips on a console? That would be pretty cool IMHO. But I don't know if it's doable...

Ive owned a Steinberg Houston, Radikal Sac2.2K, Mackie MCU v1, Digidesign Command 8, Frontier Alpha Track and now have a Euphonix MC Control
I would say the no 1 beauty of a control surface is motorised faders for automation / recall and a jog shuttle wheel for editing/scrubbing and if you were looking to get something i always made the no1 priority for it to have a screen to show you what parameter or channel the fader is currently assigned to, having to touch the fader to find out what parameter its currently assigned to is a total PITA for me.
Another major bonus is being able to switch your screens off and mix with your ears and not your eyes.

With some of the higher end controllers like my MC Control or the Digidesign Control 24, c|24 pro control etc you can do almost everything in mixing with just the surface so you are really using your ears and it feels much more like using a real mixer and you feel a lot more emotionally in tune with the mix.

Damn getting info out of this dude seems hard ! lol
Looks nice but gonna have to go look at the website to see the full features.

if anyone is interested in buying a high-class controller, i currently have a Radikal SAC 2K for sale:

and have nothing more to add to DigitalMetals comment, its a joy working with one of those.

this looks awesome though, but too bad the behringer stuff is such a crap.. i used to have a BCF and BCR, and i have returned them to the shop after 2 weeks of the purchase.

Mike's just a bit shy it seems, but he really shouldn't be, he makes some great budget consoles that punch well above their price point. I'm pretty sure he was involved with designing the Soundcraft Ghost.

Something that wasn't touched on in that video is that the faders on the console can act as analogue faders while still following automation data from your DAW, so you can have a fully automated analogue summed mix. Very cool.
