Bought it.

Installed it.

Played it.

Love it.

Currently searching for an RP guild on Virtue and Vice. Anyone else playing?

I just can't bring myself to pay to play something I've already bought. I know the significance, but still...I can't do it. This is the most tempted i've been to p2p, but alas I will not.

It looks so freakin awesome too....bah.

It's worth it, for all of the fixes they'll do. I used to pay to play WoW, and after a while it was an afterhtought.

Plus, my husband works for EA, so, I understand the need for pay-to-play games. >_>

BUY MORE GAMES!

I love RPGs, but I will *NEVER* pay to play a game that I already own. As if the games weren't friggin' expensive already!

That being said, this game does look good.

Well, what you're paying for is the upkeep and updates. If I saw DC Universe Online for PC, and knew they weren't gonna keep adding fixes and additions, I wouldn't buy it. I'm happy to pay a subscription, knowing I'm keeping the devs working.

Those chat boxes need to be fixed, pronto.

Well, most games these days offers the updates and you can download them for free. I still don't see "updates" as a valid reason to keep paying *EVERY* month. I am sure you're going to make more monthly payments than you'll see relevant updates.

Well you are paying monthly because otherwise to cover development costs it would be a bigger upfront cost, and they have to pay for all the infrastructure costs (servers, bandwidth, customer support, etc).

I find its worthwhile if you play the game at least a few hours a week.

But with WoW... I did all that I intended to do with the latest expansion and nothing was left to keep me around.

Yeah, I stopped playing WoW because the community kinda killed it for me. I was heavily invested in a magical world and eventually burned out.

But believe me when I say that the pay-to-play games are worth it, because there is a lot that goes into those massive multiplayers, like, as dude mentioned, the bandwidth and servers. For games with smaller communities, they can afford to be free because there are less people playing them, and, in Guild Wars' case, it's a lot of "instances", which means that people aren't running around with eachother in real-time. They're grouping up and playing scenarios.
