This has been bothering me for some time now...

How can you possibly like Reddit (enough to use their logo as your display avatar)? It's a cesspool of unfunny, stolen memes. I await your response. <3

It's like a 4chan filter.

Also, unsub /r/pics /r/funny /r/politics and add /r/metal /r/askscience /r/earthporn roomporn adrenalineporn /r/photography /r/travel and /r/talesfromtechsupport and you've got yourself a mostly memefree reddit.

I don't browse reddit for the humor. I browse it for the information. The Humor is just a bonus.

r/metal is probably the single worst metal message board I have ever seen. Such a cesspool of bad taste.

Reddit's great for plenty of stuff aside from the memes -- nearly every recipe I've cooked over the past couple of months has come from there, so my mouth and stomach are both thankful for the delicious delicious food. Plus lots of the memes are funny and it's actually a SFW place to look at them rather than run the risk of seeing tubgirl every 5 posts on 4chan.

I'm pretty confident that the "arrow to the knee" thing started on Reddit. Only a group of people that unfunny would conjure up such a horrible fun-killing meme. They should change Reddit's name to "The No Fun Club." Srsly.

There are some 4Chan channels that are safe for work though, like /mu/, which can be cool sometimes. /v/ and /co/ used to be SFW but unfortunately furries and bronies (talk about a group of people that should be brought into internment camps - amirite? They want to be animals - we should treat them like animals!) decided to ruin it.

As for the political, cooking, etc stuff. Is it all really that good on Reddit? Really? I have my own preferential blogs/journals for that stuff. Esp for the work environment.

I avoid /r/gaming when they get on a video game. It's nothing but buildup for months on end, and then nothing but spoilers for 2 months after release. I'm fairly confident it's a bunch of kids who literally play games just so they can be first to make references.

It pretty much stopped being funny about 5 seconds after it was said. I still don't know what it references.

But then, the worlds largest secret santa exchange also belongs to reddit. Only a group of awesome people can conjure up such an awesome, fun filled thing.

It is a Skyrim reference. (I only know because I asked someone. Don't have the time to play Skyrim.)

Not the only one. BoardGameGeek does a pretty large secret santa exchange.

I didn't say it was the only one. I said it was the worlds largest.

You know, I was going to look it up for you, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

To clarify, I know it's a Skyrim reference, but I haven't played it yet.

Not if you're looking for unbiased opinion. There's some good links people share in /r/cooking but nothing mind blowing. Reddit is a Hivemind, capable of thowing their weight (lol fat jokes) behind something and making it happen. We donated $50,000 to donorschoose.org, we find lost people all the time, we terrify politicians and have political clout. We started the SOPA blackout movement, we buy pizza for people who need it, raise money for worthy causes (that go to individuals sometimes. /r/atheism raised a ton of money for Doctors without Borders recently) and /r/forhire gets people jobs. I actually had an interview because of reddit myself. The Rally to Restore Sanity put on by Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert? Reddit's idea. We also save family businesses.
