Death magnetic leaked

I've got the new album and I must say that although it's a big improvement over the last couple of albums, it falls way short of anything GOOD. It sounds like a Metallica tribute band trying to write their own songs, yet still copying Metallica. It's not bad (except for the drumming) but it's not good either. The riffs are generic and stale and contrived, the solos are unimaginative and boring, and the drumming is absolutely horrendous. There are a couple of songs that could pass for filler on a much worse album by a worse band, but this is Metallica.

I honestly think that they've just lost it. I know they were trying to recapture their youth in this, but it's like they haven't been paying attention to heavy metal for the past 15 years and how it's changed. I guess they still think that thrash metal is still like Kill Em All, and it's not. They had to up the ante not just with their style but with their playing abilities and they didn't do it...I don't think they CAN do it. Musicians these days are just too good and Metallica can't keep up anymore.

I'm tired of people making excuses for Metallica. They're giving them leeway and not being objective. If any other thrash band released this album, they would be laughed at...but since Metallica released it, everyone loves it. There is no objectivity because people WANT to like this album, rather than go with their initial instincts. It's not catchy and it's boring. So James tremolo picks on this album...so fucking what? It's pathetic.

Exactly, I posted something similar on another forum and alot of 'true' fans get really defensive when I said that if it was a premier release from a new band it would be laughed at overall within the metal community. People really want to like this album as it the best thing in 20 years, it shows how powerful kill, ride, master and justice were that people are still optimistic after all this time wanting to like thier new music. I do agree it is better than the last 4 albums but it also seems half-assed and thrown together with no soul.

can i just reiterate that load >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> death magnetic

Load is actually my least favorite Metallica album. IMO Death Magnetic is the best post-black Metallica album (though the black album itself was already a step in the wrong direction) and certainly the most metal.

Wow, you like the black album better than AJFA. I personally find the black album a clear step down from the first four. It's less heavy, less dark, more simplistic, and more commercial. Death Magnetic > The Black Album. Death Magnetic is thrashier and heavier than the Black Album.

I enjoy the simplicity of the Black album. I would put Death Magnetic in front of it if the drums didn't sound shitty/awkward.

The Black Album is much better than And Justice For All in all aspects. AJFA is very tedious drawn out and it's like they wrote overly long songs despite not having enough solid material or ideas nor seeming inspired like on their early efforts. I'm not saying it sucks or anything.

Death Magnetic blows.
