So what's the deal with the new NM? The disc says 2004 release, I thought it was 2005?

I believe the Ukrainian version (which is the one I have) was put out on Osirian Records in 2004, and the English version came out on No Colours Records in 2005.

I don't know if I should be counting this when it comes time for year-end stuff.

Ok, I must be reading the (C) 2004 on the back of the album's liner notes wrong then. :Spin:

These threads/posts from February 2005 wouldn't have caused all this fuzz if the Russian version of the record already had been released back then:

Also, keep in mind that I and some of the other RC posters are complete scene whores when it comes to MP3 leaks and usually get new albums the very moment they leak (which always is way before the actual release dates).

I dunno why it says (C) 2004, maybe because some of the songs on "Weltanschauung" also can be found on the "Taste Of Victory" EP (released in '04), perhaps? It might even be a typo.

© 2004 = the work was copyrighted in 2004

Has nothing to do with release date which is why if you bought "Paranoid" reissue today it would still say © 1971. :Smug:

While that may be true, the date on the album is 99.999999999999999999999% of the time the year the album was released in. Reissues are an entirely different story, and again, they reflect the year that particular version was released in.

For example, if one were to buy the Rolling Stones classic Exile On Main Street, it would say (c) 2002, originally released (c) 1972.

come on dudes, i learned this lesson with Carcass - Heartwork because it says 1993 on it but wasn't released until 1994.

note: i still get confused, so in that case, carry on.

yeah but anyway if the nokturnal mrotum album was done on the 28th of december 2004 and not released until february it would still say ©2004

its NOT uncommon that early releases every year are copyrighted the previous year in fact it's pretty much the norm

Yeah, that makes sense; I've seen that happen before too.
