There's probably threads about the subject already, but I want some up-to-date information about guitar speaker cabinets.

It'll be used also for 7-string 'djentish' stuff, so I'm especially looking for tight low end responce.

The cab is going to be used to play this music: http://www.myspace.com/nerveendband

Thanks!

Some of the Line 6 cabs have V30s in them and they don't sound half bad. You could probably find one for cheap.

I'm being offered a Peavey Valveking 4x12 cab with Celestion Seventy 80 elements for 200 €. Not really sure should I grab it though. I'm looking more into the 2x12 cabs.

I was never impressed with the VK cab, I'd say don't bother. Hunt down a decent 2x12 with V30's, or get the HB 4x12. It's really not a bad cab, and if you're using it for rehearsal and shows, it'll work fine.

harley benton 4x12 with V30's sounds great: 350€
People telling otherwise are just deaf.

Well that statement is wrong. It is a good rehearsal cab but for recording it wont do. I have both a Engl Pro cab, Mesa Rectifier 2x12 and a Harley Benton. And the HB sucks in comparison. It is boxy and therefore not that good for recordings.

At least Ola is getting a decent sound out of his Harley Benton 2x12. Harley Benton 2x12 and 4x12 are starting to look pretty good options. Thanks!

+1 on the HB cabs

While not the best cabs in the world, the HB cabs are better than many, and the ones with the V30s can be whipped reasonably into shape with post EQ in a mix, way better than any other cheap will.
The fact is, if he could afford it he'd just buy a Mesa cab anyway, but for someone who can't, the HB V30 loaded cabs are a good option.

Don't get me wrong, it is a good cab for that price. Hard to beat, but... It does have some really boxy mids which you wont be able to eq away, so my suggestion is to save up the money for a used Mesa or Engl because those will last you a lifetime.

And you should be able to get a used engl for about 500euro and that isn't that much if you compare the quality of those 2.

But as i said, it isn't a bad cab, great for rehearsal and live gigs. But once you tried A/B against Engl/Mesa you will understand me completely

I agree about the mids on the HB cab (I owned a 2x12), but you can barely get two V30's for the 2x12's price up here. That means you're pretty much buying two V30's and get a semi-decent cab on the side. Get a 4x12, save up for a good empty cab (these are frequently sold on the Muusikoiden.net market place), switch the elements, sell the empty 2x12 for some beer money, profit!
