What the hell does it sound like????

I know Ive heard that vocal melody somewhere else...but I just cant figure it out

Any ideas?

It's funny how people come up with a lot of this stuff from The Glorious Burden. Cause I swear that one part in The Devil To Pay sounds exactly like one of Michael Kamen's compositions on the Die Hard III soundtrack. There was some other familiar part in The Devil To Pay too but I don't think it was exactly like something I'd heard before...I just think they're kick ass melodies,so I don't mind them being a little similar to other songs. As long as they're not totally obvious rip-offs. :)

Oh and no,I can't help you with Declaration Day (at least yet) at all. :p

I got the new album yesterday and I don't know about Declaration Day. Sounds like a typical Iced Earth chorus to me. Maybe it reminds you of another Iced Earth song. Please let us know when you've recognized the song you're looking for.
But I found another passage on The Glorious Burden that sounds familiar to my ears:
The verses of Attila sound like a slightly slower version of Colors (from Iced Earth's self titled debut album) to my ears.
You can even sing the verses of Colors along to Attila:
"Walking in the subway
Alone late at night
New York City gangs
Everywhere in sight..."
Try it. It works!

Amazing that Jon didn't notice the similarity.
But he also didn't notice that the The Reckoning cover artwork looks an awful lot like Maiden's The Trooper :) Never mind!

Well,it's definately the same melody from a song off of the Demons and Wizards cd.I beleive it's the first song on the album..it's been awhile since i heard it.

I went to check the similarities between Attila/Colors from DoP and you're right...it's funny because I wasn't even thinking about the singing, and when the verses of Colors started I heard Barlow and I got sad :(

I think you're right. I listened to my D & W CD today and the chorus from Blood on my Hands sounds a bit like Declaration Day. Is this the one you're looking for, Zac?

Dont forgot Jon mixes D&W songs with Iced Earth stuff so there ya go. I wouldnt be surprised if Declaration Days music was to be a Demons and Wizards song, its sounds very much like it could be.
