Well, to me the BEST Cure song happens to be the song Anniversary. In fact, it's one of the few I REALLY, strongly like. Very nice feeling to it.

Hmm...as for which band I prefer? Well, if it'd be two weeks ago I'd never even have heard Depeche Mode (yeah yeah, I know...crazy huh?) But, I have recently checked them out and holy crap aret hey good. Yes, I think on an overall basis, Depeche Mode will have to take my vote.

He said he never heard Depeche Mode, as in, he never heard the music (which is still quite hard to imagine, I mean, EVERYONE knows Enjoy The Silence or..?), not that he hadn't heard OF them.

No contest, The Cure! Depeche Mode does have some good songs but they will never approach the darkness or melancholy of albums such as pornography, disintegration, or faith. I guess sometimes Depeche Mode is a little too "dancy" for me.

Well yes, I've always knew about Depeche Mode and now that I think about it, I think MadTinus and Bluesky are both correct - I think I do recognize some of the music. I guess it would have been more correct to say I just never paid much attention to the band or really cared at the time...but now, my musical tastes have grown and I appreciate music NOW much, MUCH more than I had when I was a kid.

The song EVERYTHING COUNTS is the track I know I must have heard in the past - sounds way TOO familiar. And yes, I actually do like the dancy vibe to their songs. Haha.

Oh, and Duran Duran KILLS BOTH bands...for me, in a heartbeat (Come Undone happens to be one of the greatest songs ever written, imo - as far as actual songs go, it is one of the all-time TOPS for me.)

I also like the band A-ha - another 80's band - which had great, great songs. The 80's were great, hehe.

Ahem, disregard some of that I don't want to stray TOO far from the topic.

You might recognise it from In Flames' "Whoracle" album, they covered that song there.

Umm, no, hehe. I'm not a fan of In Flames. The only song I think is actually pretty good is Jotun. I'm really not into Thrash metal. As for the Depeche song, I must have heard it on the radio sometime in the past on like classic radio or something hehe.

Hmm...yeah, they're not really Thrash. Oh well, I still don't like them - their style does nothing for me.

Btw, has anyone heard of the group OMD? I think they're kinda in the same vein as The Cure and Depeche Mode...they have this amazing song called "If You Leave." Damn, that song...everytime I hear it it just reminds me of this girl I had a HUGE thing for in Art class back in high school (yeah, the almost always played on the radio during that class haha). Ahhhh, the good 'ol days...nostalgia. Man, what's with the 80's that was so...special? Don't know, but it sure kicked ass and I wish I could turn back time.

In Flames was pure beauty. Now they're crap but everyone here must stop shitting for the sake of good old days. And if somebody called In Flames a Thrash Metal band that means this somebody never heard In Flames or never listened to Thrash Metal, seriously never. Is this sth. bad?Nah not really...

:worship:This thread deserves being revived...oh man, THANK YOU to the one creating this thread hahaha.

JESUS!!! Have I been living under a rock for the past few years???? Where the hell have I been?

I just purchased the greatest hits cd of Depeche Mode and I'm blown away. Possibly the finest compilation of AAA songs I have ever, EVER heard. That Gore seriously has some talent for writing incredibly melodic, catchy tunes.

This compilation also made me realize just how many of the songs were actually familiar to me, but had no idea at the time of the band that played them hehe (songs like Strangelove (in my top 5), People are People, Master and Servant, Just Can't get enough and of course, everything counts (in my top 5 hehe). These songs instantly took me back to my childhood years...damn...

Now...the REAL kicker is the songs that I wasn't familiar with, which turn out to be my absolute faves. Nothing....JUST NOTHING can touch Shake the Disease. How on earth a song can be THIS good is beyond me...it's the song I sing along to on a daily basis now. And Precious. A 2005 song equalling the greatness of their past? Where the hell did these guys come from and how did they survive this long?

The song Never Let Me Down Again is sheer magnificence. That chorus...wow.

AArgh, these guys are my NEW addiction.

Lol, the BEST album I have bought all year. Isn't that funny? Anyway, thought I'd express my thoughts here due to the fact it's because of this thread that I basically turned back the clock and looked back into the past.

The Cure will always be phenomenal to me, but now more than ever I am glad I voted DP haha.

I'd like to read what others here think their best songs are.

CHEERS!
