Agreed on precious and shake the disease.

You need to hear "barrel of a gun"

Glad you think so.

Any idea where I can get the mp3 you recommended me? I tried limewire, but it was a no-show and this song doesn't appear on the greatest hits. I swear, if I'm going to have to buy every single album from these guys that'll be crazy. I usually happens to me in situations like this where I find the non-hit songs to be superior. Hopefully it's not the case with DM, hehe.

The Cure. Been a fan since my dad recorded the Love Cats video at the start of my Daffy Duck tape when I was (I think) 4

DM wrote some damn fine songs, but I've never liked hearing them play their own stuff. They bore me. I've loved pretty much every cover I've heard though.

Both groups are great and very influential, "DM" and "The Cure" have a detailed supreme history in a synth/goth/darkwave/rock genres. Songs like "Shake of disease", "Enjoy the Silence", "Personal Jesus", "Pain that i'am used", "Precious" from "DM" and " A Forest", "Lovesong", "Faith", "Homesick" of band "The Cure", - are classically improvement of talented musicians.

Alcapoth, did you like the track In Your Room?

Son of a bitch!!! Dude, just DUDE!!! You made my day by suggesting this song (I actually haven't heard this until now - gotta love Youtube...:) amazing video as well.) Damn, this is like...almost a different band compared to what they were like in the eighties. Fucking brilliant song - :headbang: the part at 2:14.....pretty dark song.

Bluesky, I checked out Barrel of a Gun as well. Didn't think much of it...at first. But upon a few more listens it kicked in. Awesome beat...great video.

@Khayman666: Aye, Love Cats is a song in particular I just find so incredibly annoying. I remember back when I was a teen how much I even despised it..."do you feel do you feel do you feel pretttttty???" Hated it.

The Cure REALLY shines on such songs as Anniversary, Lovesong and Just Like Heaven. Those are real winners. Faith is...ok. Has a nice intro, but I don't know, something seems missing in that one.

And lastly, I think I'm going to have to check out, in full, The Cure album that many here are raving about.

Yeah, Depeche Mode became much darker in the late eighties/early nineties compared to theri previous material, Violator is a great cd actually. I'm not sure which Cure album you were going to check out, but it must be Disintegration or Pornography and if you listen to both of these albums you will be amazed that this is the same band that did Lovecats or Friday I'm in Love. They are DARK, two of the best albums I've ever heard in that genre right there.

I think pretty much everyone gets annoyed by it. But to a 4 year old who'd never been exposed to anything so camp, creepy and bizarre as Robert Smith it was pretty fascinating stuff.

Yup, it's Disintegration I was referring to. I have always known Lovesong which I think is a remarkable song. Smith's vocals are indescribable...he really FEELS what he's singing in that song and the listener in return totally connects to that emotion. The atmosphere and mood even displayed in the video is just awesome. Nothing more to say than that. I have a hard time believing anything else will top this song off the album, hehe. I could be wrong however. Also, is Pornography the album with the song Just Like Heaven on it?

It seems I'm the only one here that REALLY loves the song Anniversary, hehe...no one ever really talks about it.

As for Depeche Mode...again. My new addiction is the song "It's No Good," which is from the Violator album...no surprise why it was one of their most commercially successful albums. Gahan is showcasing some marvellous display of vocals which seem to rival Bowie's best imo. That opening line can send shivers down your spine, with the killer beat in the background...man, I gotta see these guys live now. I mean heck, they're still around - a great band such as this.

Khayman666: Yeah, in that case I can totally understand.

Alcapoth: Just like Heaven is on Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me, the album right before Disintegration. It is a cool album but it's somewhat inconsistent, but there is a ton of variety on it and it's pretty creative stuff. I think Anniversary is a good song as well. I highly recommend checking out Pornography as it is certainly their darkest album alongside Disintegration...the atmosphere on the album is simply amazing and it is like nothing else that bands were putting out in the early 80's. As you can tell, I am pretty much a Cure fanatic. Their new album is going to be a double album (sold for the price of a single album), pretty excited about it.
