Devin Townsend - Addicted

Listening to album now.

Edit: If I recall, the demo sample made my penis dance.

Edit Edit: Penis is dancing so far.

Yeah, fuck a third edit. I'm halfway through and already leaning toward possible Album of the Year. Holy shit.

this is awesome.

the only thing that I can see as a fault as a devy fanboy for over a decade is that he wanted to split up his shit, one abstract records, one catchy, one destructive metal, one ambient, instead of like giving us a new Terria all in one.

But I'm digging the album, I'm just happy to have Dev back.

I've given it many listens. My conclusion: This album is right up there with his best work. This is seriously amazing. Waaaaay good! Anneke van Giersbergen doing back-up vocals is a nice touch. The album is well varied also.

I love Devin Townsend, haha.

Ziltoid tells a better story. So does Alien... But, this is still very amazing stuff.

I'm a huge Devin fan. This is quite a good album. Not his best solo( I'll go for Ocean machine, Terria and Ziltoid). I liked Ki a little better. But the killer songs on Addicted are Supercrush, Way home(love it) and Awake. The other songs are above average exept for Ih-Ah. I find it too corny/poppy...

songwriting wise, Infinity is his best and he will never top it.

all around, I'd be another one to say that Ocean Machine is probably the definitive dev record, though. you can't go wrong with any of them however.

Okay, so I'm coming to the game a little late, as usual... waited for my legitimately-purchased copy to arrive in the mail because I'm just obnoxious like that.

This album wins. Bend It Like Bender seemed strange from the first time I heard it, but it's growing on me. Hyperdrive is really well-done. The sound is fucking huge. Also, the shirt looks nice, is black, and gives me another day (or two...) before I have to do the laundry again.

Jeff

You've proven nothing. Those who don't trust new releases after being burned will still sample before they buy. :p

Since I didn't submit a proof of any kind, I'm not surprised. If a band provides samples through Youtube or something like that, I'll use that to check... if not, fuck them with an axe, I have better things to do.

Jeff

Yeah, I don´t "get it" but too much filler for my taste. It´s been always my problem with Devin.

Bend It Like Bender promo vid. Unusual.

Yep. When first hearing ...Bender I thought it'd fit on the soundtrack to one o' the old Sonic games for some reason. The Hyperdrive remake was indeed huge. Annekke did a great job.

dude starts a funny guitar rant a few minutes in. Crazy how he can play all that while rambling nonsense over the top. <3 Devy
