Dimebag Darrel shot and killed on stage

i was watching the CNN report this morning and they said Darrell was shot FIVE TIMES.

they hardly treated him like a celebrity, though...they talked for a good twenty or thirty seconds without mentioning him before saying "Damageplan's guitarist, Darrell "Dimebag" Abbott was the first targeted" or something.

ahahaha fucking CNN

they were barely giving this story play before--it was like fifth in the news cycle this morning, and on the website you had to scroll wayyy down to find it buried somewhere, and the headline was "Gunman kills 4 at Ohio club", no mention of Dimebag...

it JUST became CNN.com's top story and now mentions Dimebag prominently in the blurb. very, very clear the involvement and concern of the internet community did this!

pantera was the first 'college show' i went to see when my sister went to umass and i went to visit her. i was like 15 and it was an awesome show. seriously this is so awful.

Yeah I heard about what happened to Dimebag Darrel, you can read and watch more of it on this link below. Our band Vehemence played at the Al Rosa Villa venue with Decapitated in the summer of 2002, and from what I remember I could step off the stage if I wanted to, you were that close to your fans, they could get close enough to you to flick your ear, or punch your face. Also I remembered that place had no security other than the door guy.

Its unclear still, if this is a conspiracy, or freak psycho incident. I guess this is what happens with rock stars are playing smaller venues; they may think it’s friendly but could lead to many other things like death or assault. I heard the responses from the Howard Stern show.

I met him several times, and got the opportunity to hang out with him for some hours and some minutes each time Pantera or Damageplan came through Hollywood, or Phoenix, Arizona. It’s a very sad day in metal. He was a good guy, take it from me. – John from Vehemence

i am still in shock you guys.

i am not sure how much of an influence he was on ym playing but i know i always used to try and make my artificial harmonic divebombs sound as fucking amazing as his.

tonight i will go whammy the shit out of my guitar in his memory. :(
