I think these are custom samples you will never get your hands on !

I know that Peter Tagtgren
has his own custom samples at the abyss studio known as the abyss choir and id reckon
dimmu have the same kinda thing going on as do most bands.

BUT !

(haha and im on the same path as you here)

there are sampled based vst programmes that have sounds similar like

spectrasonic symphony of voices (real nice choirs)
refx - nexus (this is just new to the amrket and has some lush strings in here and other bits and bobs)

but Dimmu has done at least one album with a full orchestra....so I'm sure they were able to get at least a few "custom" samples from those sessions...

Sampling an orchestra takes thousands upon thousands of hours. Even if Zimmer himself told me he had a custom sample lib, I wouldn't believe it.

I'm certain that Death Cult was with the Prague Philharmonic, though only for a couple of songs ("Progenies..." and "Eradication Instincts Defined," maybe a few more)

Film score fans are divided on Hans Zimmer, similar to "trigger vs. natural drums" and "Blue State vs. Red State". Some say he is shite and others say he is great. DSS3, you are right -- he makes a shitload of money so he must be doing something right. Even though I hate sampled orchestra, I take the latter. "Crimson Tide" theme -- cheesey as it is -- gives me chills every time!

Either way, they agree he has a fantastic collection of samples that are his own.
