The BEST Sabbath Lineup

(I think I need to duck now)

Oh I agree too!!!!!!!! The band was much better with Dio at the helm than Ozzy.

Well, I guess this just depends on what genres of metal you are into.
If you aren't into doom at all, and are into power / trad, than obviously you would prefer Dio fronting Sabbath than Ozzy.

I love both traditional as well as doom metal.

To be honest, I loved the direction they took on "Born Again" It would have been interesting to see where they would have gone if Gillan remained on board.

Possibly some more confirmation about this from www.melodicrock.com :

"How accurate is this information? Pretty damned good from what I have heard. In fact, I heard something to this effect back in June. While there is still nothing official being said, I can add a little more information:
- Ronnie James Dio was apparently approached by another individual this year for a possible new collaboration, but turned them down due to a prior commitment to this project.
- The project formed after Tony Iommi and Dio met to work on a couple of new tracks for a planned Black Sabbath box set The Dio Years.
- The whole deal has been kept quiet to avoid any unpleasantries during this year's Ozzfest tour.
I'm sure we will be hearing more about this! Stay tuned..."

I would love for this to happen. And the person who runs one of the biggest Sabbath sites says with certainty that Iommi does hold the rights to the Sabbath name. He theorized that they may just use the Heaven and Hell moniker for creative reasons and possibly if they are just going to do Dio era songs.

The webmaster for Black-Sabbath.com has updated curious fans on the whole Heaven & Hell project rumors. Here's what has been printed on the site's news page:
Known facts:
There will be a Black Sabbath: The Dio Years box set. Said box set will contain at least two newly recorded tracks. Tony & Ronnie collaborated on the newly recorded tracks.
Rumours/Speculation:
Geezer Butler & Bill Ward will comprise the rhythm section on the new tracks.
Iommi/Butler/Ward/Dio will tour in 2007 as "Heaven & Hell".
The Dio Years set may include the video mentioned by Dio on the Live Evil recordings.
Update Sep 28: "I've since gotten email from an official source that wishes to remain anonymous that I was 100% correct on the legal situation with Tony Iommi and the name "Black Sabbath". It's still his sandbox, so there's no legal reason that would stop them from going out under the name Black Sabbath should they choose to. Should this all come off, and the name "Heaven & Hell" is used, it's my belief that it was some artistic choice, and not a legal one."
