Do you have a favourite SM57???

Well, as we know individual speakers of the same type in a 4X12 can sound different, so do some SM57's sound different than others? More High end sizzle? More low-end thump? Have any of you compared your different 57's on the same position with varied results?

yes, I've got a favorite one for guits and bottom-snare and another one for the top.

(the differences are more subtle than with guitarspeakers though)

hmmm im undecided between the 2 i have, one is a bit smoother, but a tad more tinny, the other has more growl, but im unsure of it for some reason. haha this means im gnna have to do some comparisons!!!! ive been putting it off for a long time caus i plain cant be arsed!!!!

There are differences - but often not for good or bad - so I usually don't care much... Exept if I am not able to get the cab right... I remember that I switched the sm57's in the past.. and beeing happy after that.

I've got one from the '60s that's more detailed than any of my new ones.

I have a new one and an older and the newer's noticeably better. The old one sounds just a little bit thinner and has a nasty 4khz-ish peak. Probably because I got it after it had been used live for a few years.

I have 2, but i notice the difference in the high end....and I have choosen the best for my guitar cab.

I only have one 57 at the moment and I think it has some spikes at some nasty frequencies in the high-mid to top end.
