Unsatisfied by sm57 on guitar cab

I use a tbone rm700 (fathead style ribbon) with the sm57 for some extra grind and it kicks ass when I need more brutal and grinding guitar tones (converge/doomriders stuff)

I did a little experiment today. I reamped the new Ola's song with a single sm57 aiming the junction...tipycal edgy sound I don't like (but it could be this cab that enphatize the problem).
So I tried an eq on my guitar bus and I get a decent sound, at least closer to what I like. I boosted pretty hard the mids (1KHz +7dB, 4khz +4dB) and the sound become very organic but no more edgy and thin.
It's very weird I have to boost the mids like that because I use a 6505+ and as you know, it's a pretty mids heavy amp and on this reamp I set the mids at 6.
It's an example:

The tone is far from awesome, but it gives the idea of what I mean. The no_eq sample is edgy and "dry" in some kind of way, when the eq sample is probably too much mid heavy but it's no more sterile. Anyway I don't like to boost like this my tracks because I prefer to get the tone from the source so...I think I need a mid heavy mic :D at least I can get the tone I like without put mids at 15 on my 6505 :D

you have a serious noise problem :erk:

Never heard about these Heil PR30 but they seems very appreciated...anyone has some sample of them on metal guitars?
I'm looking also on some ADK mics (expecially the s-51), they was used on several metal album, but I can't find some decent samples to check them.

I have a rock PR30 sample but not a metal sample. They are my go to mic for guitars, for both live and studio.

Thank you very much. PR30 seems not bad at all. Did you ever try ADK mics?

I can't say that I have. Every Heil microphone that I have tried, I have loved. I also have a set of PR28s for tom mics. Also, on that studio recording there was just a HP/LP on guitar. No post EQ.
