@opethpainter: i have the feeling it's more subjective than you seem to imply. i mean, you are an opeth fan and you can hum all their melodies and possibly think their albums are very varied and unpredictable. it is only a matter of how much time have you spent listening to and musing over the melodies of your favorite band. a lot of dt fans here have done much the same thing with mikael's vocals and all dt songs, so we appreciate a whole quantity of subtle differences that make us say each dt record is some special work of art and we've learned all melodies by heart after a week dd was out.
i guess it's normal. but don't even get me started about all the interesting side-projects each member of dt could come up with.
