Do you still support?

id still consider myself a fan, but i wouldnt buy the experimental album. and id be happy if the band started makin metal again

Yep.

Though I never really found any of their albums bad by any means. I mean sure, the EPs were quite shitty, but that was all the way back 15 yesteryears ago, so it's okay.
Haven and Damage Done were bit redundant but they redeemed themselves w/ Character. Fiction is probably better than Character even.

I agree about Haven, they did have some kickass songs, but it was a bit boring overall. However, Damage Done seemed pretty varied and had many moments of genius, so i'll disagree on that.

I prefer newer Anathema and Katatonia vs. old so I can agree. If a band comes out with few bad albums in a row and then redeems themselves with something amazing, It's hard to write them off. Id say the only band that has been written off for eternity from me is Metallica. Just like AchrisK stated.

I'm the opposite. old Anathema/Katatonia > new stuff.

i dunno... to be very honest, when some band records a different album, i just ignore this band 'till be recorded another good stuff. I hate when someone support a bad stuff just by the name, for example Metallica. I'm sure if albums like load or reload had been recorded by another band, we'd heard about these stuffs.

Some bands have great ideas. like Opeth, that decided record a experimental album and a metal album toghether. But some bands just wanna be mainstream, and to be like this, they think that making experimental albums they'll be different and better and cool. But who out of the metal scene would support them? i just know one band that has realized it: The Gtahering

Hey children grinder, do you mean grinder as in going to elementary school dances (if there are any) and grinding against the kids?

Or putting them in a meat grinder like the school did in The Wall

Very good movie but that's off topic.

I haven't listened to any metal bands that have become experimental but I listen to experimental music, such as The Mars Volta, and Pink Floyd.

I've never heard of The Gtahering

Loads of bands have changed their sound and in some cases it was successfull.... Iron Maiden for instance have changed their sound several times just to mention one

experimental is'nt bad, but all metal bands that tried to make experimental music didn't make a good job, except the gathering.

check this out the gathering

I wonder if the chick in front will give me a pot of gold if I catch her.

Yeah Experimental lyrics are hard. My lyrics are mostly about stuff in life and when I try to write Experimental and Progressive lyrics I can't do it well, I'm good with abstract noises though. But I don't make Experimental anymore, my troubles with the lyrics are having a concept in them and making it not too distinct.
