I know an engineer here who has the right idea - if a band is late, he explains to them that as they were X minutes late, he intends to finish X minutes early, which means their tracks will only be half mixed.

He reckons the change in the speed they work at is incredible So far, I don't think it's occurred to anyone that he wouldn't put out a half finished CD as it would make him look bad.

Things like this are why I rarely schedule time for free or accept anything but cash up front for most work.
