DragonForce / Sonata Arctica - Rollcall for this Wed in Chicago

Yeah, it's an early start time.
Who knows? Maybe this will permit a longer set for Sonata.

Hopefully what it doesn't mean is adding on additional bands.......

nope...sorry Jason......basically the show will be over at 9. The last time Dragonforce played it was an early start too and the show was over at 9:15 or something to that matter.

Really? I guess that's cool, since it is a Wednesday.

Stinks about the short setlist, but for $10 on a Wednesday, can't complain too much.

Amber - Look up Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian for me when you are in Miami! :goggly:

Minneapolis setlist last night:

In Black and White
Flag in the Ground
8th Commandment
Paid in Full
Last Drop Falls
Fullmoon
Don't Say a Word
Vodka
Everything Fades To Gray (45 second fadeout)

Sonata put on a high energy show and hopefully made some new fans among the Dragonforce crowd. I hate seeing them for only 7 songs, but I get why this is a good business move for them and they'll be back again on a headlining tour soon enough

Sonata always puts on a great show. Last time I saw them was with Nightwish and their setlist was about the same...very short. But they still rocked the place.
Wish they'd trade 'In Black and White' for 'White Pearl, Black Ocean'.

I don't really follow SA much anymore but I'm still pissed I've never seen them play 8th Commandment. When I saw them a few years ago and people were yelling for it, Tony just frowned and said it was "too fast" or something.

8th Commandment is pretty much a given in front of a Dragonforce crowd, so this tour is your chance to see it.

WPBO has became a regular staple in their headlining shows and I believe I saw they are playing it on their headlining shows of this tour. After talking to Tony last night, I would expect it to be in the setlist on their next headlining tour, as well. :kickass:

In Black and White has quietly and steadily moved up my list of favorite Sonata songs, so I was thrilled it was in the setlist!

I would be happy with that setlist.
I hope they keep in 8th Commandmant tonight.

@ Amber - I am wearing a Miami Ink shirt right now actually.
I really like their work, though I have no ink myself.

I like the posted DF setlists so far.

My all time two fav DF tunes they never play unfortunately
(Black Winter Nights, I think it is called from Valley, and then Once in a Lifetime from Sonic Firestorm)

Yeah, that song from VOTD is amazing! That entire CD kicks ass! 10/10
So, how was the show?

Show was good, lots of fun.
SA was the same as MN, minus Paid in Full.
The HOB kept the show on a very tight schedule, which was nice , since I was home by 10PM sharp!

SA played very well, and went over very well with the crowd.

DF are DF. Love em or hate em, they are a very solid live band, who are a lot of fun to see. It was great to hear many older songs they normally don't play live, like Valley of the Damned, Starfire, Disciples of Babylon, etc.
