I got the new Theater album a few days ago...it sounded very unfamiliar in the first few times, but I'm getting addicted to it day by day.I know it'll take me months to have an accurate opinion on this album, but so far it seems unreal...this is PROGRESSIVE music in its whole sense
any thoughts on the new DT effort?

FINALLY!

Someone else posting about this album.

I was going to post about it when I got it (on the 29th), but I have already obsessed about this album 2 months ago when I got it via mp3.

Fantastic album IMO.

SFAM and 6DoIT would have to be tied for best DT album, simply because SFaM is a concept album and 6D is just great, all around. It also includes the greatest song written to DT date, Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence (with A Change of Seasons coming in second).

If you know me, you know I love Dream Theater. I'm not ashamed to show my colours, but I do like them more than Nevermore, but that's just me. Favourite band indefinitely.

I like Dream Theater with Rudess on the keyboards better then their earlier stuff and I think that SFaM is the better disc.

Anyone get the new Pain of Salvation disc? This was a great week for progressive music!!

Scenes is their best... 6DoIT is good, but it'll take a while for it to fully grow on me. 'The test that stumped them all' is amazing.!

Is there anyone saw DT show(s) on their 6D tour so far?
I tried to see them and Pain of Salvation in Europe but my boss at work didn't allow me to do so, ahhh...

Shit A-Spice, if I had the chance to see DT AND PoS, I'd say, "Fuck you buddy, I'm not working!". Of course, I belong to a union, so they couldn't fire me for not coming to work for one day. :)

The closest they are to me are the NY shows... I've been considering greatly attending both shows, because they are playing completely different set lists both nights. My guess is that one night they will play the entire 6DoIT album, both discs, and a few other songs; and the other night they will play just a regular show, no openers; just them for 4 or 5 hours.

DT 0wns!

hahaha... I love DT and PoS both too. I supposed to say the word like what you wrote when I talked to my boss, However I knew our company had a prob. now(lack of employee), so this time I accepted his words. Instead of it, I'll come over their shows in my country(jpn). They are gonna play different sets every nights on this tour according to one jpn mag. Finally my long-time dream will come true...!

If you attend both shows in NY, I'll be jealous of you:-p. I don't think they'll play for 4 hours on the tour I suppose to see in Spring. I guess it's gonna be worth for you to see both of NY shows. I hope you will make it!!

I saw their warmup show in New York...incredible. This tour has received nothing but excellent reviews, with the band including great songs like Under A Glass Moon, Surrounded, Lifting Shadows Off A Dream, Scarred, and Lines In The Sand in their setlist (on occasion, as you probably know DT changes its setlist every night), and surprises like Cover My Eyes and Another Dimension...
And the new POS is just as incredible as the new DT...

High Speed Kurt,

The same goes for me!!

What is the difference between TPE1 and RL for you? I've tried to come up with an answer to this and the only thing that I come up with is that it's more uplifting in feeling to me.

I can relate to a lot of the stuff on RL, and musically its unreal. TPE just kinda stayed at 1 pace, this one is brillant. Songs are great, music is killer, Daniel's voice is better than ever.

Pain of Salvation just rules.

The Vanden Plas is also good, but not nearly as good as POS.

I have been on a DT-Concert yesterday, and well; IT WAS FUCKIN GREAT!!!

I thought they would do the same as they did on the scenes tour, playing the complete album und then 2 or three other songs...Well, I was wrong! They started with Glass Prison , very cool. And then they came up with songs like surrounded, Lifting shadows off a dream, take the time, scarred, fatal tragedy, home, the spirit carries on, Pull me under (with a nice interruption we all know as "Master of Puppets"), they played some Liquid Tension, the great debate and Blind Faith...Oh, Yes, and Lines in the Sand and one song of their first CD (unfortunately I did not buy it yet, time to change). And, of course, not to forget some Solo-Interuptions for Ruddess, Portnoy, Petrucci, Petrucci/Ruddess Battle...
Very cool, I still can't believe that I could be there.

I did saw them last week in Amsterdam and Pain of Salvation was the very best but much to short .But I,m prejudiced since they are good friends of me :)My overall favourite p.o.s cd is one our at the concretelake. Dt was ok very good set list but a bit lifeless on stage. I did get to meet them backstage witch was fun. :spin:

They won't surpass "when dream and day unite" :bah:

But they did with Images and Words, Awake, A Change of Seasons, Scenes from a Memory, and Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence :)

Seriously, though, I must not be hearing what is so special about When Dream and Day Unite 'cause I never really found it very exciting. I shall go listen again and see if I can hear what you're hearing.

Later.
