-Cubase 5
-Tonport ux2
-jackson maple w seymores (about the only difference)
-Metal Foundry w/ slate samples
-lolzgreg asem impulse while using tse808>lecto
-sent to a guitar bus w psp plugins.

and i also use KRK rokits rp5 lol

hey when you say Modern Exciter -> Modern Compressor> are you implying the features in ozone? you insert ozone into your guitar bus?

I looove the hook at 1:03. I may steal it... but seriously, i'm looking for something to that exact extent for a couple of chorus' of mine. Very melodic old Haste The Day Stuff. Internet project?

I have no fucking clue what your previous mixes are like. But this is the killer man! Everything sits so nicely and nothing is overdone. Guitars sound really clear and focused. Sweet job dude! I doubt she'd have outdone this shit!

haha, soulmates! I use Modern Plugins VST's, they are completely free and kick ass.

this is the song I posted before. very different material, but you get the idea that I'm improving :)

I was gonna do a "Mixing time: DI's inside"-thingie, but my Iomega harddrive fucking commited suicide.

Hey now I remember who you are! I actually have heard that older song before. That was tight as hell but the newer one is definately better! I just might have to download this song to my iPod and listen to it all night at work.

haha, din lilla norrbagge. musik handlar om uppoffringar :D

Edit:
And dude i need more songs for my ipod.

haha, my norweigan isn't that great either. but I was saying that music is all about sacrifice!

The snare: I used a really woody snare in metal foundry, then I cranked the velocity way up so you get that smack/crack sound right away. then I put slate Snare 10 on there, adjusted the dynamic groups so that the crack sample was the one playing all the time. EQ, lowcut at 90-100hz, cut a little at 125 and then a huge cut at ~400hz, did some cutting at 800hz-2khz aswell with a really wide Q, then boosted around 5-6khz and then did some highshelving to give it some air. Compressor, Waves RComp, just your average settings really, about 15ms attack and I think I used the ARC (auto) release, cranked the limiter up and dragged the threshold way down. On top of that, I put the Z4 (room) sample of the snare at a fairly low blend (15-20%) and then GClip post-fader and clipped it around 50% with no smoothness. then a drum reverb as a send, which I also used for the toms.

Woot? That was norweigan? Guess i really wasnt paying attention in our swedish class.

Anyways. Thanks for the info! That's quite a lot you have goin on there with the snare. But I've learned that snare needs some special attention. A bit more processing Than the rest of the kit.

haha, no. that which I wrote was in swedish, I wouldn't even try to write in norwegian because I don't know how to!

a snare is the loudest, most present and most delicate part of the drumkit in my opinion. too loud and it fucks your mix to pieces, and if it's not punching through enough your mix looses all rythm.

Oh, ok. That makes more sense :D

I've also read that some peolpe mix their snares to be about 3db louder than the rest of the mix. But youre right about the snare being the loudest piece of the kit.

haha, yeah, my avatar kicks ass! really reflects my personality in a way.

I did everything myself using a Line6 TonePort UX2, an LTD EC500 w/EMG81 and old as shit strings, a hand held SM7B and some old Sammick bass I got for 100$ at my local guitar center. the rest is just software and vst's.

I use Cubase 5, Superior Drummer with the Metal Foundry addon along with Slate samples, Waves and PSP plugins (also alot of free stuff, like Modern Plugins, GVST and so on), Ampeg SVX, VocAlign and Ozone for mastering

guitars were just LeCto along with the ASEM Recto impulse, 100% left right, did some pre-amp EQ to get the strings sounding more "new".

2x Guitars: EQ -> TS808 -> LeCto -> LeCab (with ASEM ir)
Guitar Group: EQ -> PSP Mixsaturator -> Modern Exciter -> Modern Compressor -> Waves L2

all was mixed and mastered on a pair of KRK Rokit RP5's

if you're wondering about something else, dont hesitate to ask :)

I'm wondering why you're so much better than me when we use a lot of the same equipment :hypno:
