they are writing some new stuff, the new album will be released in 2004, probably not before the summer.

as for the demos, these are veeeeeeeeeery old demos (something around 1997, if not older), they do not represent at all their current sound..

I consider El Cielo as the best thing coming out in the last 4,5 years, a masterpiece that every Anathema fan should appreciate
