Drum computer

I don´t know if there was a thread about this but I want to ask you guys if you got experiences with drum computer programms? I search for a easy and cheap way to make a pre-production of some songs. A perfect way would be a free programm with an easy handling that such a technic idiot like me can work with it.
Hope you can help me and you might got some suggestations! Thanks in advance!
