Drum n Bass

but seriously hubster who is he? so I can check him out..

LTJ Bukem - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

LTJ Bukem is his name. He is the absolute supreme GOD of intelligent DnB (and practically invented intelligent DnB as it is), there's simply no one better.

Grab ANY CD of him live with MC Conrad and you wont be disappointed. I danced my fucking ass off when I saw them around 2 years back, I walked out fucking drenched in sweat.

I also highly recommend the Earth series of CDs on Good Looking Records. Start off one Earth Volume One (1998). Every single composition on Volume One is amazing. Standouts are Bukem's works and also Doc Scott among others.

Bukem is an amazing DJ and mindblowing composer. Buy his work, you wont regret it.

This live CD of Bukem and Conrad in 2003 is just jaw-dropping. Not only do you have Bukems amazing DJ'ing, but also the best MC of them all in Conrad.

2 CD's, one with the mix + MC'ing, and one with mix only.

Progression Sessions: UK Live 2003

If you EVER find out LTJ Bukem is playing near you, GO. Go and see him and experience one of the most incredible DnB artists of all time.

I don't really like the newer style of DnB which is the boring 2-step / jump up rubbish. Its just too simplified. I like older stuff, with rolling breaks, deep swooping sub-bass and some ambient sounds.

Check out:

Hype (circa '94-'97)
Doc Scott
Bukem (check out the tunes, "demons theme" and "music")
DJ Shadow
Grooverider
Fabio
Roni Size
Peshay
Goldie
Pedulum is good fun, its a bit like prodigy doing DnB.

Possibly greatest DnB track of all time:

Origin Unknown - Valley of Shadows (Andy C)

awesome cheers mate!!!

While a more commercial release, its no less significant in the DnB field: Everything But The Girl's Walking Wounded album was a landmark album for raising mainstream awareness of DnB back in the 90's.

It was also one of most emotional releases in modern music of the time.

Ben Watts' beautiful loops and melodies combined with Tracey Thorn's sublime singing is an experience like no other. Every person should own this album.

PS: of note, Omni Trio, another superb DnB outfit, also did an amazing remix of the title track Walking Wounded.

well, maybe for starters you can figure out what DnB is and stop putting artists in that pool who clearly aren't. I love those, more than i like DnB, but they AREN'T DnB.

Go Plastic has all the elements of D&B except the boringness

Drill and bass, a sub-genre of intelligent dance music (also known as "IDM"), popularized by Aphex Twin, features many of the same types of rhythms used in drum and bass and is generally focused on complexity in programming and instrumentation. Its main proponents include Squarepusher and Venetian Snares, amongst others. IDM itself has been heavily influenced by drum and bass.

The difference between drill n bass and drum n bass is like the difference between death metal and brutal death metal

ok, Armageddon's Child. You're right, everyone else here is wrong, and you know your genres like MADDDDDD. Especially ones you don't listen to and don't like.

is it really so hard to just admit that you're wrong and move along?

unless you honestly have your head so far up your own ass that you can't accept what is plain to pretty much everyone else
