I know this has likely come up a lot in the past, but I'd rather just get a direct answer here, if you guys don't mind.

So ok, say I've got Addictive Drums running in Nuendo and each drum is outputting to the corresponding folder track in Nuendo. Why in the holy hell is there no way to print those tracks to audio, or route them into actual audio tracks where they can be recorded?

How do you actually record each individual multitrack drum onto its own track, without soloing and exporting one by one?

.......Why is ProTools still lightyears ahead of Cubendo with routing?

......Why is the world round?

Thanks.

get Silverspike's TapeIt2...like I've mentioned several times around here before. Stick an instance of it on the insert of each drum's channel, set it to respond to your DAW's play button...select what file format you want and where to put the output file, hit play...and at the end of the song...you'll have your audio file. You can run it on all of your drum tracks at the same time. It saves soooo much time and headaches.

Yup

So far I have not found a reason to use any processing outside of AD with the exception of EQ. The built-in processing is actually usable. I like how the compressor in it works more than any of the VSTs I have available. The only thing lacking, IMO, is the built-in EQ, I just feel very limited by it but it could also just be that I'm use to other EQs in my arsenal. The kicks in AD are thunderous...mostly not in a good way. In this aspect I find the EQ inside AD to be limiting to get that ridiculous thunder out of the kicks and make them sound normal.

That TapeIt2 sounds interesting, hopefully there is a Mac version... never know when that could come in handy :)

That is unreal, man. What the hell is wrong with Steinberg... I can't even imagine what is going through their heads to have this many years pass, take their time getting side chaining going, and then some rudimentary improvement to their routing system, which doesn't even have half the flexibility and power of ProTools.

I feel stuck between two worlds. Digidesign are absolute money grubbing cunts, and Steinberg seem keen to sit on their heels and not bother improving their product in much-needed areas (ie. complete UI overhaul, routing, editing etc.).

One thing I noticed that I really miss from Cubase SX versions I had before is the ability to apply a plug-in to a section of audio by accessing the right-click menu and going to like Process -> VST or whatever. I remember being able to do that and it made some tasks a lot easier. It's actually one of the first things I noticed when I first got it. Is this a limitation of Studio 4, or is it like this on the full 4? If it's still available through some other menu somebody tell me.

I'm pretty sure it's gone period :(.

One thing I do have to say though... really pisses me off - Studio 4's one limitation that wasn't mentioned in anything but deep in the manual that I really want is the ability to monitor the inputs on the mixer and apply plugins to them so what you recorded already had the fx on it.

Yeah, seriously... don't get me wrong, I love some of the new features, particularly the moveable plugins, and the fact that it actually runs on Intel Macs...

but man if the downside isn't huge! Has me heavily considering going back to PC, dual-booting and whatnot :(.

WHAT?!

you can't directly apply plugins to audio files in cubase 4? I was thinking of upgrading but COME ON. Why would you take something like that out?

ugh.

Well this has been a more disappointing thread than I'd ever hoped. In all honesty I just hoped to get a direct answer on how to print tracks, but instead found out that not only can you not do that, you also can't print FX to tracks directly anymore.

.... Do we like go and petition Steinberg or something?

Lol petition them? I think that's been done on a few occasions already with no luck. Go to Cubase.net or similar and look at the hordes of threads complaining about the tiny things that should be common sense.

Am struggling to remember back to Nubendo 3 but can't you just freeze the VSTi and import the files from the Freeze folder?

Seriously. No one around here ever wants to listen to me about this little tool. If you're using a PC, it's worth the money and will save you so many headaches (and a lot of time). Want to export/print all your drum/midi track...it'll do it. Want to print all of your effects...it'll do it. Want to export your whole session with midi and effects printed...it'll do it. The thing is a life saver.
