drumagog and dfh

Yeah I'm drooling over the Slate Drums right now. I would say buy those instead of DFHS (blasphemy, I know!) for your purposes. It doesn't make sense to buy DFHS and only use it to GOG the samples. The Slate samples honestly sound better and like Broodwich said they come in GOG format already. I'm like the resident DFHS representative (unofficially :P) and I'm saying get the Slate Drums!

hey guys thanks very much for the kind words. VERSION 2 is due out in May and features another 12 snare sounds, 5 kicks, and set of 4 toms, along with cymbals and sampler mappings.

Here is a quick teaser of one of the new kicks and new snares.. this is one of my favorite snares because it sounds so damn RUDE.. 100% replaced kick and snare with Z1s.
I recommend listening to it on your monitors, not computer speakers as it'll do em no justice!

Not to sound like an asshole, but shouldn't the samples sound good and translate to any monitoring setup? Be it computer speakers, car speakers, headphones, etc.

Not doubting the sound or you, the snare sounds great on my "computer speakers". Just thought I would put that out there.

My "computer speakers" are actually a 1600w Sony Home Theater system with four huge speakers, each with a 2" tweeter, the top speakers have an 8" woofer and the bottom speakers have a 15" woofer. Not the best monitoring setup but it gets the job done for me until I can nab some Event TR8's or Yamaha HS50's.

jackal, there are 5 velocities on snares, 3 on kick and toms.. V2 will have 6 velocities on snares, 4 on kick and toms, and a lot on cymbals..

elephant.. sounds like your computer sound setup is a lot better then most... I recommend the workstation speakers because I sometimes have people email me about the lows on the kick drums, only to tell me they were listening on laptops :(

I think its a good idea to audition sounds on the best system you have. But the fact that the hits can translate is obviously important as well.

Either way, V2 will surely have a lot of fans here.. there will be another "metal kick" which is similar to kick5 in the first collection yet with a slightly deeper tone since it is combined and layered with other kick samples. The snares are really fat and will program very realistically. Cymbals are smooth and very detailed. I'll post more stuff soon.

Ha, thanks bro!

Hey how many of you guys have software samplers that will utilize our V2 package? Kontakt, Halion, EXS, GigaStudio, Battery, Sampletank???

We're entertaining offers from some companies to bundle the hits with a dedicated sampler/drum plugin ala DFH. Let me know what you guys think since many of you seem to program here.

I think most people on this forum, in particular, use Battery if they aren't using ToonTrack's sampler for DFHS/EZD or Drumagog/APTrigga to use the samples in.

jesus if you threw put it together in a sampler like DFH it would blow toontrack out of the water

Should I hold off on buying EZ drummer & DFH Xpansion right now?

I've been thinking of getting it for a while (and may be very close to doing so)
but if they release a new version with your samples then I may have wished that I've waited.

I also wish that they would release a version that allows one to use ones own samples.

We actually have one more disc that is also has a tiny print smear so I'll leave the link up till someone nails it:

Anyway, V2 is expected late this month, I'm posting a new audio demo with one of the snares today. It rocks. Some of the snares are being beta tested in some of the newer mixes that Mike Shipley is doing and he is quite thrilled. And so am I.
