drumagog auto-align

no, i take it off and i think it works better that way. I think i recall Joey that dude who records Prada, and Attack Attack saying he doesnt use it either.

what the hell does it even do? I've always just turned it off based on the fact I don't know what it is. haha.

I can only say it again.....bin drumagog, get aptrigga....=no phase issues anymore...better than drumrehab and TONS better than drumagay

I hope Slate's "trigger" will be as good...

I like drumagog, but it has its tics :)
I mostly replace the bassdrum 100% so I´m using the LIVE-mode for that (mostly no false tirggers)
Snare is a little bit more difficuilt: I´m using the "standart-mode" here.
But at first I´m mixing the real snare (without any reverb) Then I put drumagog on it (with a very low sensibility (high sensibility always gives me to soft hits)
This works for me great on snare rolls (so drumagog is only triggering the hard hits and I have no machine-gun snare)
And of course a lot of automation (soft rolls with 0% triggering, stronger rolls with 50%, blast beats with 35%.....)
After that I´m putting mostly the waves rReverb on the bus.
But most important is that the snare sample sounds as close at the real (mixed snare) other ways snare rolls sounds totaly strange

So I´m saying: Drumagog is not perfect in any way, but I found my way around to get it work great.

ps: Triggering real toms is always a PITA IMO

i never use it.. to my knowledge there's nothing out there that's sample accurate. so if you want it done right you just have to run drumagog and then tab through to line up the hits by hand. the good thing is that it varies hits and you can control dynamics.
and yeah it sucks on toms, I just do those totally by hand.

there is...aptrigga.
I keep telling you guys....
print the track, slide the whole printed track (looking closely at one hit) so it ligns up with one hit from the mic track and ALL hits will be perfectly aligned...
dammit!
:D

Not always, While it definitely is more accurate then the gog, I tried aligning the whole track to the first hit but then I still found myself running down every other hit and re-aligning them. Lasse whats your daw? I remember you telling me to do the same thing when I posted a thread asking about it and was thinking its a difference in daw's being what you said doesn't work for me.

are you sure your samples are cut up perfectly?

I never had problems in Tools nor in Cubase4
...unless the samples weren't cut very accurately

yeah aptrigga is way tighter than drumagog.... but then drumagog handles dynamics better than aptrigga. interestingly enough; ive also noticed that aptrigga triggers more accurately in Logic than in Pro tools... WHAT THE FUCK!

i was drum editing today and realized that by changing drumagog settings during playback in cubase 5 can cause very small latency shifts between the tracks (and those slight shifts will stick, even after stopping, etc.)

my whole kit sampling was sync'd, but my floor tom was about 2 ms late, this in combination with the overheads made a sound similar to clipping

i unloaded every drumagog insert and reloaded the fixed latency version of drumagog and all was in sync

so dont forget to try this out when you're changing the quality and auto align features of drumagog in cubase, sometimes it can cause sync issues that are close enough to sound like they're working but far enough off to cause odd behavior / sound

Honestly I wouldn't dare use Drumagog keyed with audio anymore. It is just way too unpredictable and inconsistent. The best thing I did was grab Drumtracker and export MIDI information for all the drum hits. I use the MIDI IN function in Drumagog and key from that. Always consistent and at the same sample point. Also it allows me to incorporate the sounds from the stock SD2.0 samples, which can be invaluable, even just for the room.

These days preparing tracks/records for mixing can take me several hours, but as a result the framework of the mix is usually done within about 2 hours.
