My drummer is getting rid of his Tama IC and wants a set of long boards. ALl I know of are Axis.

Should he get those?

ARe getting use all right?

Axis are killer pedals man, lots of guys are using them these days. He really needs to try them out first though, of course.

I suck ass at drums, but while I like Iron Cobras a lot, the Axis pedals feel even nicer to me. Very smooth, the handful of times I've actually gotten to use them.

There are more things on the market as of late than just IC's and AXIS. Pearl Demon Drive pedals are interchangeable to short or long. DW 8000's are available in long boards. Trick has em. Do some research...

Our drummer just signed on as a Trick endorsed artist and will be getting the Pro-1V double pedal in the coming week. AFAIK, he is going from shortboard Iron Cobra's to long board Trick's. I believe you can order a shortboard retrofit kit for the Pro-1V if you don't dig the longboards.

I guess I was always under the impression that most kick pedals came in shortboard or longboard form, but I guess not?

I'm pretty confident in saying Trick's got the best out there, but the new Pearl Demon Drive pedals are the most tweakable pedal I've ever played.

I heard the Demon Drive pedals are as good as proof of the existence of God.

I've played with 4 drummers with Iron Cobras (including a guy who apparently got the first left-footed set in the UK), and they've all been really squeaky - even after being smothered in more lube than a German tourist in Amsterdam. Three of them have had trouble with the connecting bar too; the bolts holding it just seem a bit soft, they thread and get squished out of shape.

For the price of a pair of Pro 1Vs, I'd want the damn things to play without me

I read this as long beards, and I think that's a better question anyway. I submit for your consideration:
