Dt Record Sales

If DT sold that many records, they would headline a lot more.

Would you agree that In Flames sold more of their most recent records than DT? I mean, whenever both bands would play together, DT always supports and doesn't headline. In Flames has done lots of headlining in the US and STYE even made it onto the US charts.

According to this, http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=24924, "Soundtrack To Your Escape has sold 45,725 copies in the U.S," and Reroute to Remain sold 68,735 by the summer of 2004. I know that's different from worldwide sales, but if DT is the less popular of the two, they probably sold less records worldwide.

Those numbers of mine were certainly no science, nor even the word of a god, but looking at those numbers you showed, I actually find my old esimations more likely. Here's why:

Seeing that Reroute to Remain by In Flames has sold around 70 000 in the USA by last summer, we can pretty much safely assume that it has sold at least 150 000 worldwide, probably more (after all, there seems to be a much bigger audience for this kind of music in Europe, Japan, etc).

Now, if we assume R2R has sold about two or three times as much as Damage Done, we get something like 50 000 - 75 000 total sales for DD. Which is not too far from the sales I estimated for the previous albums.

Also, note that we already got a second-hand confirmation for Haven having sold 50 000 worldwide (back in October 2001!) - I would think it has sold a few more since then and DD has probably sold more than Haven. I wouldn't be surprised if Character had sold more than 100 000 by the end of the year, btw.

Finally, about the order the bands play on tour: Although I admit IF is a much bigger name nowadays, back in the day there wasn't such a difference. I recall DT might have played before IF on some gigs on the 1999 tour, although they probably never headlined (Children of Bodom & Arch Enemy were on the same tour, and CoB was the last band on the Finnish gigs).

But once again, I must stress that I have no hard data for any of these. The only number I'm pretty sure of is that The Gallery had sold around 25 000 back in 1997, as that number has appeared on multiple sources (all of which can of course originate from the same flawed data, so...).
