Well in all cases let me start again well being less tired. Allright I beleive that the concept of duality, is that there are multiple versions of you living in different dimensions. This is shown is in the movie One. But i all cases what if something your alter persona did could affect you in your life now? Or could there have been people just like you, looking just like you, in another time in the world? Also when we look in mirrors and see are selves, we are seeing a portrait of ourselves, but there are two of the same you in one dimension, thus giving youl dual existence for that time. Discuss

Okay. Do you believe that there are?

This is shown is in the movie One. But i all cases what if something your alter persona did could affect you in your life now?

What if it did?

Or could there have been people just like you, looking just like you, in another time in the world?

Yes? Elaborate.

lso when we look in mirrors and see are selves, we are seeing a portrait of ourselves, but there are two of the same you in one dimension, thus giving youl dual existence for that time.

I don't think you understand how a mirror works.

What is it that you'd like us to discuss?

Have you read Borges?.

This is a very...hmm how should I say it, mainstream philosophical issue?

While there is a possiblity of there being parallel universes etc, it's not something I normally dwell on, mostly because it's a pointless waste of time and can't really be proven either way.

Also, a mirror is hardly a manifestation of a parallel universe, science has empirically proven that it's just a reflection of light waves. Not a window into a parallel universe.

I believe that when you look in a mirror, you see what you want to see. Your eyes can decieve (is that spelled right?) you.

Also I think everyone has always 2 sides: a good and a bad one. Most of the time you see em both togheter cuz balance is everything in this world. but when one of the sides takes over, it could go wrong with that person. I think that's how psychopathes are, most of the time the bad side took over.
That's why I believe that anyone is capable of killing someone else. If placed in the right situation, the bad side will take over resulting in destruction of some sort.

you're right
any person on Earth can do anything you could ever think of, it's just a matter of knowing how to "press their buttons"

I agree with Birkenau - I don't think we're in a position to ever actually know, so it seems pointless to dwell on it.

i like the probability one: that if you punch a brick wall innumerable times, there is such an orientation of atomic particles by chance that will allow your arm to pass through. since this is ridiculously small, who the hell cares.

there may be an infinte number of parallel dimensions with parallel existances, but until we can reach them, why bother?

You know, I just got his collected works. I was about to start reading them.
Don't expect anything worthwhile. He tritely recycles the same three quasi-esoteric concepts endlessly. If it isn't "time", it's "God", and if it isn't "God", it's parallel dimensions, and if it isn't that, well, hey - let's dig up "Time" again! only this time, we'll combine it with "God" AND parallel dimensions!!

His non-fiction is even worse.

Despite all his and others' claims to the contrary, his work reads as one long pedantic book with no plotline or point other than as a template for him to regurgitate all the "deep" and snappy turns of phrase he's encountered over the course of his life; all this in a frustrated effort to construct a real book. Every short story or "essay" (if you can call them such) reads as a failed first chapter for that book.

It's all a big game of intellectual smoke and mirrors - you could instead watch the Matrix in order to get the same level of intellectual complexity you find in Borges. By about the fifth time you've read the word "vertiginous", you're starting to wonder what's up. "The Garden Of Forking Paths" gives you the clue to understanding Borges and his attempt at fitting into the world of literature, as if his endless harping about Scheherezade wasn't enough.

I believe in going back in time, that's when you enter another parallel world

going back in time obviously CREATES a parallel world, but would you be able enter an ALREADY EXISTING parallel world or re-enter the one you left???
In you opinion, black holes lead to an already existing parallel world because material can't just vanish in thin air

Try and keep this on topic fellows (or ladies!). It's becoming full of tedious, short responses. If it doesn't pick up, then I'm just gonna close it down.

rock on.
