Dude so did you guys see Amorphis' recent setlists?

I have to be honest, I really wish I had. I just didn't have it in me to do so last night.

Take my word for it though...he sounds FUCKING AWESOME. They were honestly so much better than either Into Eternity or Beyond the Embrace, it was almost funny to see the gap in cohesiveness & talent. Maybe it was just experience, but shit, they slayed last night.

His growls are superb, and his clean vocals are very good as well. Kind of reminds me of "Draconian Times"-era Paradise Lost. His growls were really deep and powerful too. Fucking really good IMO.

Damn, when you put it like that i wish you had too  I really want to hear the guy, and as much as i liked Pasi... some of his lyrics were really bad hah. Hopefully they do better in that dept. as well.

That was an awesome show, period. Amorphis was stunningly good, I really had no idea they'd be that good.
I went to this show, mostly because I like going to see shows. I love Into Eternity, but wasn't impressed with their ProgPower set. All the dual guitar leads they do just don't come across well live. However, the singer at PP was really good. Last night, I witnessed the same disjointed twin leads, but just horrible vocals. The guy was trying his best, but he just can't sing.

The stange thing about Amorphis is, I only know their last three CDs. I was pumped to see them, until I heard Pasi had split. However, they kicked ass. The new singer has some fucking evil vocal chords. It was a real cool show. I'm very curious to see what they do on their next CD.

You were at the BB King's show? I walked all around that place, and didn't see anyone familiar, so I just hung stage left with Beyond the Embrace most of the night.

I saw Into Eternity in Pittsburgh tonight. I thought they were very tight musically, but the vocals were weak. Guitarist Tim Roth usually does clean vocal harmonies, but he is suffering from laryngitis. The new bassist attempted to do the harmonies, but his voice was very flat and off-key. The new lead vocalist has an irritating stage presence and had to resort to falsetto during the choruses. I was also suprised by the brevity of the set (5 songs!?).

I thought Beyond the Embrace was much weaker live than when I saw them a couple times in support of "Against the Elements". "The Insect Song" is a dismal album and it seems to have translated into their live performance as well.

Cool, cool. How did Beyond the Embrace do?
We unfortunately missed all but the last song. We met up at 7PM, thinking that Silver Bullet Theory would go on first. Since neither of us has any desire to see them, we figured we'd show up an hour after the doors opened, forgo standing in line, and have enough time to grab a beer and catch BtE. However, for some bizarre reason, SBT went on after both BtE and IE. So, we missed almost all of BtE, only watched 2 IE tracks (couldn't take the vocalist), and didn't watch SBT. Essentially, we drank until Amorphis came on.:kickass:

That's odd, I didn't know they were changing shit up on the tour. In NYC, it was Single Bullet > Into Eternity > BtE > Amorphis.

Shawn had told me that Into Eternity had been before them the whole tour...ah well.

I believe SBT is from PA, so that may be the logic behind the one time switch.
