After years of ignoring their older stuff they get a new vocalist and look what happens!

They now play stuff like "Sign From the North Side" from Karelian, "Drowned Maid", "The Castaway", "Against Widows", "Black Winter Day", "On Rich and Poor"... Now this is just kool, I need to see them now. And on the clean-vocalled side, "Summer's End" would fucken rock live.

So what was the problem? Pasi didn't want to growl live, but he'll growl for SHape of Despair? I always thought it was the guitarist, Tomi, that pussified the band.

I'm just not in the know here. But I would love to see da old shit live.

I seen them live a week ago. It was pretty good. Some fat douchebag threw ice at the lead singer and started giving the thumbs down sign during one song. The entire crowd just looked at him like wtf? I was expecting some crazy amorphis fan boy to wallop his pudsiclian self.

WTF are you talking about?
I have seen Amorphis 2 times, one in February 2002 and another in November (or was it December?) 2003, and they played at least 4-5 songs from "Tales.." in each concert (lots from Elegy too)

yeah, but they need to stick strictly to the old material, and ignore Am Unisuckum and the "music" after it.

In fact, they just need to stick with Karelian and Tales, and some of ELegy. Yeah...........

They dind't play anything on shows I went to, although I guess that was a little earlier than that... I feel cheated, damnit! :yell:

EDIT: I think Universum had one decent song, and that was "Veil of Sin". I liked the orchestration.

Amorphis rocked last night...they played the same setlist psoted above in a slightly different order, it was great hearing the songs from Elegy being pulled off superbly and the new singer brought an edge missing from some of the newer stuff (such as singing the prechorus of Alone in a half-growl) as well...only complaints were that the keyboards were somewhat inaudible and My Kantele, while very moving, would have sounded better midway through the set instead of as an encore.

That was an awesome show, period. Amorphis was stunningly good, I really had no idea they'd be that good. Dizzamn!

Into Eternity's clean vocals were so off-key it was crazy though. Musically, they were fantastic, and the harmonized/traded growls were excellent too, but they either need a new monitor for the lead singer or he needs to have his hearing checked. It didn't help that his mic was way too loud in the mix either.

Beyond the Embrace were good as always, but then again, I'm biased.

Markgugs, did you happen to record that Amorphis show? I'm rather curious as to how the new guy sounds singing for them.
