Theres a ton of cops around here who go on power trips and harass people. Like they'll just push you around and search your shirt for absolutely no reason. Hasn't happened to me yet, but I watched it happen to 3 dudes I know.

I used to get pulled over all the time, for no particular reason other than I fit a profile (long hair, driving a beater, must be a druggie). Never been threatened, but once I received some serious vibes from a cop because I didn't understand his request for me to take off my boot laces.

I understand what you're saying, the police frequently see themselves as them against the world, and like alot of organizations, if they can keep it under wraps they will, and they will protect themselves even by using methods which are wrong....I can think of a number of examples, f'rinstance, the Catholic Church shuffling its molesters around to new areas of fresh children.

Please don't use circumstance to dismiss my argument. Sure, lots of organizations/institutions do this. That doesn't change anything. If anything, it means I have a problem with them too.

there is a very exact formula based on # of drinks, time spent drinking, and body weight that will produce a DUI or DWI, based on BAC (blood alcohol content).

I weigh just under 200 lbs, which means I can have about 2 drinks per hour and still be well under the legal limit to drive.

Except that stuff is pretty individual so you can't be sure, plus you don't know exactly how much alcohol is in one drink, and you shoudn't drive if you've had even one.

The majority of the cops in this county are corrupt, I know that on a first hand basis. I wouldnt hesitate to say that there are a substantial number of cops in the U.S. that are either corrupt, or abuse their positions of authority in a serious manner as well.

What a bunch of cunts. I have two buddies on the L.A.P.D force. They were also marines, 2 of which were part of the first battalion going into Iraq. While they were out doing the duties set out for them, the fucks griping on this board were at home getting fucked up on shrooms. I have found that the only people who bitch & moan about police are those who tend to break the law a lot. MORE OFTEN THAN NOT, these people are heavy drug users who feel, like, oppressed, maaaan.

The FACT remains that the VAST MAJORITY of police officers in this country are good, upstanding men & women, who SAVE COUNTLESS LIVES on a daily basis and do what is in their means to uphold the safety & security of the people of this country.

I dunno, I took a middleground on this. That says, i'm hardly a fuckup and try to avoid drugs. All I said is I've seen my fair share of chronically corrupt/fucked up cops. In my hometown, about half of the cops can be bribed to leave you alone (weed, beer, cash). Some of them will pull over anyone under 25 just to TRY and find something wrong. Some of them will harass anyone who has gotten on the bad sides of a friend/girlfriend/wife/family.

I also know some very nice cops, I have a friend at depot right now, I have a friend whose dad is a cop.

i know two guys that became cops ... and both of them did because they had personal vendettas against certain things.

One guys's g/f was killed when she drove home completely high on coke after a binge weekend Upstate NY ... needless to say the guy is on the DEA force, and he is not a pleasant fellow.

I think you will find people like that more on the police force than "corrupt" cops ... and they have every reason to be pissed imho.

Where are you getting your info here? The problem with this is that police forces knowingly cover up information on the criminal activity of their own members. I have serious respect for cops and the work they do, as long as they aren't using their position to get away with things that they would be getting arrested for otherwise. I'm starting to regret acknowledging my drug use on this forum, as it seems to lead to a lot of blind stereotyping.

My problem with cops arose from very specific circumstance, but it indicates a system-wide problem, because I refuse to believe that this was a completely isolated incident. If that kind of stuff is allowed to happen AT ALL within the force, there's a problem that has potential to affect the safety of people like you, 'gugs.

I happen to know a LOT of cops, and there is one in my immediate family. I've been privy to the inner workings of your everyday police force far more than anyone here, I can promise you that.

I'm not a big fan of cops and I never do anything illegal. I've also known a good few and am also often "privy to the inner workings". Sure there are good cops but few intelligent ones. Good smart people don't usually set out to become cops.
