dumb question

hi guys !

i almost see everytime on wesites ( like m-audio and stuff ) that they have those little keyboards for working with midi in pro tools etc.

i have this keyboard ( yamaha psr 2000 ) that has 2 inputs called midi in an midi out.

would it be possible to do the same things tht you cn do with those small keyboards ?

yeah if an instrument has MIDI ins and outs you can use it for MIDI programming in Cubase, Pro Tools etc.

ok thx !! but what do i need exactly to plug it in ? my synth has a midi in and a midi out. and 2 cables to do that. but to wht have o to use to connect it to my pc ?

Get a cheap MIDI interface if you haven't got one already.

Patch from MIDI out on your keyboard or synth into the MIDI in on your MIDI interface.

You want to transmit MIDI data from your Keyboard so it makes sense to use the MIDI out.

You simply need a Midi-Interface.

Some Audio Cards like the Delta1010LT or the Firewire1814 have midiinterfaces on board. Check if your Card has an input/output where you can Plug those Midi cabels in. You don't need any Drivers. Just a Host (Cubase, Logic, Pro Tools, ...) and of course a (Software-) Sampler or Synth.
