I just picked up a set for my 7 string, 10 13 17 28 38 48 60, and man they are punchy! I was originally using a D'addario 10-59 set but felt that it was just lacking a tiny bit of tension and feel.

These are supposed to feel thicker at the same gauge, so for example a heavy core 52 would feel like any other brand's 56/59 maybe. They just have a thicker core so they have higher tension at the same thickness. Feels great! Might have to pick up a set for the 6 next.

Anyone else tried them?

I've got a set for my 7 sitting here on my desk that I bought a month ago, still haven't been arsed putting them. I'll throw them on next time I need to do some DI tracking.

Let us know how quickly they die. The standard Dunlop strings go painfully dead in a day or so, where as D'addarios still usually sound pretty good up to 1.5-2 weeks after a change.

This'll be the deal maker for me. If they're as bad as the Ernie Balls I put on that were shit after 2 days, I'll never bother with them again.

Yeah that's the true test, especially since that was the whole reason I was using D'addario for so many years, they took forever to lose their chime. I'll report back in a week and see how they're holdin up.

I've switched over to the 11-50 Heavy Cores From D'addarios and am LOVING them

A good friend of mine put them on his gibson explorer a while ago and I played it for a good part of the evening. I cannot comment on the lifetime of the tone, but I really loved how they felt. I didn't know they were heavy-core strings, so I was completely unbiased, but after a few minutes I asked him what these strings were cause I liked playing them so much. It is hard to describe what was so nice about them, but to me it felt like I was getting all the benefits from a thicker string, with the playability of a thinner string. Cool stuff!

I've tried the Dunlop Heavy Core 52 set when I bought a 5 pack and regretted it. Sounded good, but died within a day.

I wish I could use Daddarios, but they just do not make a gauge that I like. Right now I use the EB 11-54 sets. My vibrato just annihilates strings after a while. FML
