Is cleaning your ears with them cotton swab things a good Idea would it improve my hearing while mixing or is it best to leave it there and let it kill a bit of high end? o_O

You shouldn't be sticking small stuff into your ears regularly. Clean them when they need cleaned - but certainly don't block them with anything while mixing.

Q-tips should only be used for the OUTER EAR.
As my doctor said: "Anything smaller than the size of your pinky should not be put into your inner ear"
The inner ear should be cleaned with warm water to melt the wax
then shake ur head with that ear facing the floor to get the water out
Also sleeping with that ear facing the floor to help the wax leave your ear naturally during sleep

+1

this falls in the personal hygiene area. clean your ears appropriately as needed,(I think its recommended once a week but im no doctor).

As for the qtips, learn to use a qtip like a qtip and not an icepick?

Don't use ear wax removal aid either, its no good and actually clogged my ear drums up once, I thought I lost my hearing and broke my hand punching a mirror then a wall multiple times. Turned out it just softened the wax and when I had my head tilted it solidified over my ear drum, causing me to hear nothing. They removed it with a hydrogen peroxide mix and a spray bottle with a modified tip, to make the water flow controlled and violent as fuck. my 2 cents.

Now I use mineral oil with warm water in a bottle syringe.

This. ^ I don't use them at all. Warm water usually does the job. When and if it gets a build up you can use 3% Peroxide to melt the crap away and dump it out your ear. Personally I dilute the Peroxide with water.

Q-tips (when used wrong and shoved in your ear) push the wax into your ear and cause build up. Never use them to clean your inner ear.

For regular cleaning water and an ear syringe is all you need.

Actually the wax is there to protect your eardrum from drying out and also to keep a specific PH. water (or even worse, chemicals) should not get there at all, if you have a wax buildup you cannot properly clear it anyway so just go see a doctor - that will improve your hearing, swabs won't, not even the swab makers ever suggest to use it in ears, it's just people like sticking stuff in holes.

3% Hydrogen Peroxide, that will take care of it. One drop let it sit for like 10 seconds, and wash it out with water. Don't use too much you don't want to remove all your earwax, it has a purpose.

Yeah, don't clean the cheese on your penis either. It's there to protect.
..

As stupid or gross as it sounds, the inner ear has its own system of regulation and expect the exceptions of being blocked totally, there should be no inner intervention. You're supposed to clean only what gets outside (what has been ditched by the system).

I personnally don't think about it, and use qtip superficially outside, and never by putting them in and out, but by rotating them, to get wax without risking pushing it into my eardrum, and only in the outter part/entrance if you see what I mean. And I do it only for esthetic reasons so that my ears look clean. I do nothing further and let it do its job, which it has been doing fine for the 25 years of my life.
