But does the resale of band items actually hurt the band? They sold the item at what they thought was a fair price to start with. Besides, that was just one example of resale by what was originally intended as an end user. Also, some have said perhaps bands actually have a hand in this practice and could possibly be benefiting. Not saying Agalloch is, but this debate is about all bands right?
What's ridiculous is you keep asking for a serious debate, yet make statements like this repeatedly that are insulting and no preface of "no offense" negates that. I don't think it IS an ethical debate, but one based on fans emotional attachment to the band and their success. But just because I post that doesn't mean I expect you or anyone else to agree with me and I don't think I have to put IMO in order for that to be understood. You aren't open to other people's opinions, so I am not interested in continuing the discussion.

I can testify to this. We've had epic PM battles where we tried to out-troll eachother that went on for ever, like a hawk grabbing onto a snake and the snake wrapping itself around the hawk in an eternal cosmic struggle. Good times!

Gonna go ahead and agree here!
The best thing about it all is that no matter how wicked and epic the trolling battles are, it's still a hell of a time to have a beer with your opponent comes September... and even better is when we start doing epic, face-to-face trolling battles.
Brent usually wins them all, as he's not just an online asshole. A real lifetime asshole as well.

Where you get that idea is absolutely beyond me, considering all the music industry discussions I've posted in, in total favor of the business and capitalism, utilizing economic tenets, etc. You can't differentiate an objective debate from personal subjective opinion? That's YOUR problem. You deserve every "blast" that's stated man.
No, I am not saying anything I am inciting a discussion about the topic. I have an opinion, but I actually found a few of the vibes and posts here to be rather successful. I definitely had to re-think my ethical standpoint because of a few posts for sure. That's the point of threads like these. If you feel that threatened by the topic that you don't even want to read it, yeah, you need to get a grasp on how the net works.
I don't see how it matters, because as I said this is an open discussion and there's nothing wrong with having multiple points of view. Besides the two trolls and the one or two guys that assumed I'm on a soapbox because I missed out on a deal or whatever when in reality I was inspired by a well written article on the matter (and by the way, you would think that this is a valid enough topic when other sites are covering the issue... so why you seem to feel it's "bullshit" is also beyond me-- I like Agalloch, but I don't like them enough to spend 30 bucks on rare vinyl or whatever), I thought the majority of the posts here were really interesting (except for yours, because they were incoherent and were the product of sloppy comprehension of the topic). That said: AngraRules, your buddy Diabolik, Mardoch, rms, dcowboys, kimavir, Orbweaver (at the very least, on the notion of the thread, but maybe not my opinion), and possibly others agreed with me. But I guess YOU can't be bothered to READ the thread to figure that out.
