In grade school, we assembled and were forced to watch a film strip that insisted that FIRE IS BLACK. Over and over and over again the notion that FIRE IS BLACK was pummeled into our heads by the Meriden Fire Safety commission. They probably reiterated this point 70 times in the film strip. That FIRE IS BLACK and therefore when you're in a burning house at night, the fire would be invisible.
