I imagine most fans of the melodic death scene have heard of the Swedish band Edge Of Sanity by now. For those of you who haven't, they've been pretty much pushing the genre since '89. To make a long story short, the band broke up in late '97 after the release of their 7th studio album, "Infernal". They released another album in '98, minus a few original band members, but it was an utterly disappointmenting work of mediocracy...at best. It sounded amateurish to me and was not well received by their fans. I sorta lost interest in EOS after that, and that was pretty much the last I'd heard of them.
Until a couple months ago...
Behind the scenes the original lineup reunited to write, record, and release a new album in August '03. I got it online then, but my CD finally arrived today. Damas y caballeros...this new album, "Crimson II", is an MDM masterpiece from the first song to the last! Any fan of this brand of music needs to grab this album. The guitars are heavy, crisp, brutal and beautifull. The production quality is flawless. The vocals, both clean and gutteral, are extremely powerfull. And the drumwork and basslines are so solid. This album definately gets 5/5 drunken headbangers...
